Did anyone see this last night. Very interesting but a little concerned that Euro 2012 was going to be held there. i see trouble ahead unless something is done about the hooligans now.

Don't worry there are football hooligans in every country, and always will be. They don't care about football, just want to beat up each other. That's OK with me, as long as they they just inflict injuries on themselves and not ordinary people who want to watch the game.

they should be easy to control, they wont be able to afford tickets to the matches so they will be sitting ducks on the streets for the police who will take no sh*t because of press coverage..or so we hope (gulp)

Polish hooligans? Aren't those the ones that were suppose to invade Germany during the last world cup and cause chaos, murder and mayhem on a scale never ever seen before?

Yes. Some of them didn't queue correctly at the restaurant I was in. Disgraceful.

Those bastards! Unfortunately I'm afraid that this horrible situation will repeat itself again during the Euro 2012. Oh God, have mercy! ;)

The one on Medellin in Colombia was a tad scarier. Brought back some grim memories

Not at all......This program goes out on sky every week. It is an insight into the culture of football hooliganism and Ross Kemp has visited 20 countries so far. This program singles no one country out.

News flash, these hoolies are in a minority they do NOT represent people in Poland. You don't think we have them in the UK?

As for Poland being 50 years behind...you really are ignorant aren't you? and evidently not very well travelled!

ShelleyS:

Even if he travelled it wont make any difference. He is basically a troll trying to be a part of the continuation from where 'loveislam' left. Its a situation which is the most dangerous. They are a blinded community, in a ditch...and always trying to dig deeper (thinking they are digging for a way out)...not knowing that this digging gets them deeper into the ditch.

This religion is in its great decline... even if the numbers increase (due to many different factors).... they have stepped inside their doom.

xxlisaxx, There is not going to be any trouble from Poles, just like there was no trouble in the last world cup. I remember the media was touting the fact that there would be swarms of Polish fans heading west ready for a fight. Nothing materialized.

1. Are there any gangs in Poland like their are in America. if so do you know of any?

2. I saw a documentary about like Polish gangs like futbol clubs called hooligans? can you explain this to me? like a motorcycle club where they use the excuse that their futbol enthusiasts, but in reality their a gang? what do they do? and are they all racist because the ones in krakow that they showed had ties to skinheads.
Thanks!

Yes, there are. We try to imitate the American way of life in this, much as we do in other things like drinking coca-cola, eating hamburgers, being politically correct, patrolling our skies with the F-16 aircraft, and many others through which we show that we are proud of America, just in the way that America shows that they are not proud of us denying us a visa-free access to your beatiful country of fifteen states.

No, there aren't gangs like in USA. Ziemowit is wrong. It's like you said, there are football hooligans. They beat other teams fans, and wear team colors. But when there's no game, you won't notice them.

Unfortunately, gangs in terms of organised crime do exist in Poland. The peak of their activity were in the 1990s when the Gang (Group) of Wołomin and the Gang (Group) of Pruszków were the two most widely known. Street shooting between members of the rival gangs were perhaps not that common as in Chicago in the 1930s, but I personally know casual passers-by, witnesses of these in Warsaw... It took years to crash the groups, these days smaller groups, often the offspring of the above, control areas like prositution, alcohol smuggling and - increasingly - gambling.

Merged thread:
Football hooliganism in Poland?

There is a series on Sky/ITV occasionally called "Ross kemp on gangs". It's all a bit trashy and vacuous from what I've seen of it - which isn't much.

Basically this "actor" (best known for playing a hard man himself) tours around the world and sort of hangs with/reports on various gangs. It could be anything from hispanic guys in LA to ghetto black guys in Johannesburg - plenty of white gangs too I might add.

Anyway, the other night the show was dedicated to football hooligans in Poland. I was a bit surprised. I didn't see the programme and I know that there are some problems in this area but I didn't think it was that much of a phenomenon - e.g. the Krakow teams can be violent rivals & I noticed dubious hooligan based graffitti from time to time in various towns in Poland when I was there.

But is it really that much of a problem or is this series simply running out of subject matter?

I watched it yesterday. It's available on Google Video in the +20mins section. Many others are available too.

It is a huge problem, yes. Krakowian supporters are a law unto themselves. Others have a convention that no weapons will be used but they don't follow that logic. Anything goes and territory is precisely marked.

I see it even here but the logic is contrived. I don't like to see when Górnik and Piast fans make war. They are both Silesians and, ultimately, Poles. I'm watching a documentary on Serbs+Croats and how needless the war was there too. There were all Yugoslavs. Singling out sb for not being what you are is excessive simplification and is perhaps the single biggest danger in the world today.

Kemp got down to the nitty gritty. I like his style in his videos.

Still a problem, but the biggest teams are starting to make a concentrated effort to stamp it out. For instance, every Lech Poznan ticket is associated with a PESEL - so if there's trouble, the ticket can be linked to the seat and the person banned for life without much effort.

But the smaller teams are still causing trouble - for instance, the teams out of Szczecin and Lodz.

Having said this, Polish fans are pussies compared to the Karpaty Lviv fans - I was there for the Borussia Dortmund game and saw hooligans try to attack a bus with Dortmund fans.
