But is it really that much of a problem or is this series simply running out of subject matter?

This programme is quite old now (4, 5 years?). But footie hooliganism was bad at times - you didn't want to be stuck in Krzyż Wielkopolski station on a Saturday after the Sczcecin-Bydgoszcz game in the 90s. Plus there is Ryszard Kapu¶cińki's book The Football Wars on how it was a few years previous. More recently the police baton-charged a crowd in Słupsk and a 12-year-old boy was killed, cue three days' rioting. Opinion is still divided on whether the boy was an innocent in the crossfire or dishing it out to the police and provoking the conflict.
But one-on-one the Stilon Gorzów Hools were a bunch of regular, if confused young lads who still visited their grannies on Sunday. I knew some of them - maybe the fact I spoke their language and wasn't packing a camera helped, either way, no problem. That said, I never went on to their turf (the Zawarcie area of town) which would have been an entirely different kettle of fish.

Yeah, the Stilon guys were on the video. Very hostile and quite needless :(

'Cos they knew they were being filmed. Sad what some dipshits will do for 15 minutes of fame, but there it is...

Some people naively think being a hardman is fashionable. They spoil things for other people. Kemp really gets stuck into his documentaries and tries to uncover much of what goes on. I rate them quite highly.

Not exactly recent that, must have been at least ten years ago. And didn't involve football fans either. Or even take place during the football season.

Anyway, the other night the show was dedicated to football hooligans in Poland. I was a bit surprised. I didn't see the programme and I know that there are some problems in this area but I didn't think it was that much of a phenomenon - e.g. the Krakow teams can be violent rivals & I noticed dubious hooligan based graffitti from time to time in various towns in Poland when I was there.

But is it really that much of a problem or is this series simply running out of subject matter?

Yes. When we have derby in ŁódĽ whole police is mobilised and helicopters fly around the city.

There is also a big graffity problem. The foodball hooligans use as insult a term Jew (Żyd) and they call the supporters of other teams Jew. That's why you can see such graffitis in whole city:

The name of the team - ŁKS or RTS (Widzew) covered by David's Star. Sometimes neonazi symbols lige swastica and antisemitic slogans are in use.

Zeti, derby is derby in English thus no need to explain :) :)

They are neo-fascists and Ross Kemp covered them extensively and what they believe in.

Ross Kemp will likely get more material here. Poland square off against The Czech Republic, Russia and Greece. Plenty of violence potential there. I don't expect too much pre-match drinking together but it is a chance for showing that there isn't too much hostility. An incident-free event would really go a long way to building ties and showing that Poland has the problem under wraps.
