Chicagoland - April 17, 2011 - Team USA will be duking it out against Team Poland for an exhibition, entertainment focused StrongMan battle. Five time World’s Strongest Man turned professional MMA fighter Mariusz Pudzianowski will be hosting this event. Team USA carries with them Brian Shaw, current Arnold Classic Professional Strongman winner, along with Jason Bergmann, Kevin Nee, and Karl Gillighan. Team Poland boasts a very impressive line-up as well. Be assured, even though this is an exhibition battle, the competition will be fearce because there is a hefty cash prize to the team that wins.

Let’s ask the obvious shall we? The result of this friendly competition will not be skewed by denying a visa to the competitors who might be perceived as a threat to US team, are they?

StrongMan Show in Chicago Area

I've noticed something, why is it that only Polish men who work out and are built (or think they're built) walk around with their arms spread and with tight fists??? It looks so corney like they're trying to look tough. I haven't seen a single American even if they're huge and look intimidating to that.

There are those meathead types here too. They mainly go to the gym and then one club here. Haven't they learned that being muscly is not the be all and end all of being tough?

Pudzian should've stayed in Strongman. The problem with UFC is you have to weigh no more than 265 pounds for fights, meaning he had to cut 40 pounds to fight legally... as did Brock Lesnar. I don't know why UFC doesn't have a superheavyweight like 265+

He won the WSM 5 times and probably felt that he wanted a fresh challenge. The setback to Sylvia humbled him but I think he is on the up now. He should take out Thompson on the 21st of May. He doubted himself in a recent interview on a German tv station but he is likely just lulling JT into a false sense of security. Speed will be key in that fight.

I know that but still I think he should have stayed and tried to be 8 times or 10 times and then he could be a true legend and start his own competitions like Schwarzenegger did with the Arnold Classic. I saw that fight and I wouldn't say it humbled him because he's a humble guy, I just think Sylvia is just better built for UFC fighting or cage fighting with rules.. he's 6'6" which is half foot taller than Pudzian, he has much better reach then Pudzian. In a street fight Pudzian would devastate Sylvia in 2 seconds. Pudzian didn't even prepare at all for the fight, he just did it to see if he would like it and to try it out. People are trying to make Pudzian out to be some sort of hulking creature with no stamina and no fighting skill or prowess. He is actually a 5th degree or something like that black belt in some form of Karate, he also boxed on an amatuer level, and this was before he got into powerlifting and worlds strongest man. Then he became 5 times world's strongest man which in my opinion is very difficult, because I compete in strongman and powerlifting here in the U.S. and I can say that most people aspire to winnign the title once, maybe twice, but 5 times is ridiculous. His mental strength and toughness is far far superior from any athlete in the world in my opinion. The only thing he lacks is the build for UFC fight, if you notice most UFC or MMA fighters are tall and lanky, of course there are some like Brock Lesnar who use wrestling to their advantage. My advice to pudzian would be not to try to change what he has, which is power, but to get a good trainer who can maximize his God given physique and strength and teach him to use it to his advantage.

Let me set the facts straight if I may. Pudzian is a green belt in kyoukyoushin karate, not a black belt. Also, Tim Sylvia is a trained police officer and tackles those with more aggression than Pudzian. Pudzian should have fought him as if it were a street fight. It is MMA and brawling works sometimes. Kimbo got by on it for some time.

I heard a young guy competed in the Strongman event and did remarkably well. Check pudzian.pl for the article.

I know the author of the second link as we often discuss MMA on FB. Sorry but you are wrong, face it!

My grandma was Irish. I was born in Scotland. Pudzian hater my nose. Keep hoping!

Now, WSM? Let me guess, he won it 25 times, right? ;) ;)

No, he is not a green bell idiot, he is an MMA fighter :)
