V. Klitschko defended his WBO title for the 5th time in an amazing boxing against great Shannon Briggs which ended in a unanimous decision on judges scorecards. 12 hard-fought heavyweight boxing rounds.
* Nathan sips on cold beer and saluts his great compatriot* :)))))))))) Yey!!! Nice to share a pleasure :)

Shannon Briggs was a good fighter, Lewis had trouble with him. I'd like to see the Klitschkos fight someone who is seriously gonna compete with them, maybe David Haye

I know it will never happen but I'd like to see him against Brock Lesnar :-)

Yeah this guy is a steroid goon and he's mixed martial or whatever the hell. Klitschko is an athlete.

They all use steroids nowadays in almost any sport you pick. I believe, he would have a serious chance with Klitschko, especially in UFC type of fight.
As far as calling him a goon, well I don't know how much sense he makes when he speaks Ukrainian but I've heard him speaking German and in this language, Klitschko most definitely sounds like a goon.

You do realise that UFC fighters are subject to exactly the same controls as boxers are?

Anyway, a win is a win - though it confirms what I've always said - they box like they play chess.

he should do something about his legs, his upper body is huge, yet his legs are twigs, you can't neglect your legs if you're working out, it don't look proportionate with the rest, plus in fighting legs are important in punching power and also being able to take a punch.

I guess, they must be. Lewis Briggs was a good fight.

His chest is big and that makes his legs look skinny. I wouldn't call it twigs, lol

Well, Vitali destroyed him from start to finish. Vitali should take one last fight in Dec Vs Haye. He has the same record as Lewis, I believe. 41-2. However, Vitali's 2 losses weren't straight losses as his shoulder buckled under pressure in one fight and he got badly cut against Lennox in the second one. He was winning both fights on all scorecards.

Briggs. Briggs was too old and too lacklustre. He never posed any real threat to Vitali. Lewis was the guy that ran Vitali the closest in terms of technique. I often feel that a quick boxer would catch him. Tyson in his prime surely would have.

Yep, most likely. It's only a matter of time and a new "Tyson" will pop up.

I don't think you will ever get anybody as tenacious and aggressive as Tyson was. Prospects may be out there but he they will never emulate him. Klitschko would have frustrated an older Tyson but a young and hungry one? Vitali would have been backpedalling and forced to work.

There's always another "Tyson" out there, just wait

Seriously forced to work and it just might not be enough.

Not with all the gloss and hype, guesswho. Never say never, I guess. I just don't feel we'll see one.

Vitali is set to retire at the end of the year so bowing out Vs Haye would make sense. It would silence some doubters.

OK, well then it might be to late for the new guy to appear that soon.

Take a guy with plenty rage from Brooklyn, train him up and then maybe :)

I really don't know Haye at all. I just haven't followed him but Vitali is really that good. How fast is Haye? I have time so I should watch some of his fights.

True but too aggressive and you start to lose technique ;) ;)

I'm watching Haye-Valuev. Valuev is huge. Another Ukrainian giant!

I just watched that fight too. Valuev is huge and most likely very strong but unfortunitely for him, not a very smart fighter. Good for Haye :-)

True, Goliath wasn't the smartest and Haye capitalised. The Polsat commentators had an easy day in that fight.

Solely based on this fight, I can't really say with any certainty that Haye would beat Adamek. Adamek jabs a lot and picks up many points. Haye dances around too much. Maybe it was just the strategy for this fight.

Klitschko would be a far tougher proposition for Haye than some other guys he has fought.

My bet is Klitschko vs Haye = Klitschko; Klitschko vs Lesnar = Lesnar lol (of course it will never happen).

I'd go along with that. Who is Pudzianowski down to fight next, James Thompson? Has he been working with Mickey 'Irish' Ward on his boxing? I hope so as he needs it. His amateur boxing career just isn't enough for the big leagues.

A bit of karate would be nice to see ;)

Pudzianowski

If he wants to have a chance in UFC, he needs to go easy with choosing his opponents and learn some tricks and obviously get much faster than he is right now, otherwise he'll go down like a hot potato very soon. Like you said, he ain't ready for "the big leagues" yet.

A great Sunday joke, thanks for that, lol We most likely never will see his karate but we can at least try to imagine it, lol.

He should train with Klitschko :) :) His weight is now fine for the UFC but he isn't ready. He is a bit faster due to shedding many kilos. He should spend some money on getting trained up by Vitali. Ukraine is a neighbour so he'd be close.

Pudzian is a green belt but you wouldn't think so.

Anyway, let's stay on track. Briggs looked awful! When they start getting pudgy, they lose their edge. Vitali has stayed lean and sharp and that's to his credit.

a real wrestling champ. before he got into WWF etc he was a pretty hard core Freestyle wrestler, mixing it around the world.

Certainly a bigger problem than Audley. I can't help wondering if Wladimir's latest opponent is a bit of a nose-thumb to Haye.
