Hi, I'm English. My girlfriend is Polish and she is to be her best mate's maid of honour (or whatever the equivalent is in Poland) in Wroclaw next month but unfortunately for me it coincides with the England V USA match on 12th June this year. I believe the kick off is about 7.30pm UK time meaning it should be an hour later in Poland, of course. The good news is, as I mentioned, my girlfriend is Polish so she can obviously communicate with the pubs and landlords etc. perfectly. The bad news is she knows sweet FA about football so doesn't know what it will be showed on, where it will be played, etc. etc.
Now, I am assuming the game will be televised quite popularly - as no doubts the Poles would love to see us lose! Anyhow, what I would absolutely love is a channel that is most likely to be screening the England game uninterrupted AND with English commentary. As I know this is a lot to ask, failing that I will settle for the game alone. I'm learning Polish at the moment so listening to the commentary in the native language might also be a learning curve for me! However, I would much prefer to listen to it in English. Anyhow, what I need to know is what to ask for at the pubs when checking if they will be showing the game - channel name, subscription, that sort of stuff etc. I can then let my missus know this who can nip off and do the talking ; )

Many, many thanks.

Hey!,

I'm not a football expert by any means, but i would think it will be shown in Guinness Pub, on Ul. Solny, which is just off Rynek, you can always give them a call to find out, the staff speak English (well last time i was there!)

Good luck :)

why is that? I think many of the Poles would support England. Me of course I would love to see you draw with USA and lose the rest haha but I am not Polish. So is the World Cup gonna be on public TV in Poland?

Just go to the Guiness bar in Plac Solny, Rynek guaranteed they will show it. I watched all the England games there last world cup.

No need to speak the local lingo either most of their employees speak English, well they used to anyway.
