I think its interesting that 3 of the 4 semifinalists at the 2011 Porsche Open are of Polish ancestry.

-Caroline Wozniacki
-Agneszka Radwanska
-Samantha Stosur

If Sabine Lisicki won her quarterfinal match against Julia Goerges, all FOUR Semifinalists would have been of Polish ancestry.

As it stands now, there is a 3 out of 4 chance that the woman who wins the Porsche Open will be of Polish roots. I find that interesting.

Look at your link. At the section Early life.

This article also says it.

In another article I read how Stosur talked about how "a bunch of us tennis players from Australia are of Polish background".

Stosur is also a Polish name.

OK, thx As far as the name, you can never be really that sure unless it's Kowalski or so :-)

You're welcome.

Yeah you have a point. Many people think of Polish names as mainly ending in a vowel, or z.

And there is 4 out of 4 chance that none of them have ever even visited Poland, just like you.

I find it even more interesting that two out of the three didn't grow up in Poland.

You poor thing , yeah you know better - in your own confused world of cyberspace , you have lost touch with reality , you know where other people travel , who they visit and what they have on breakfast .

What's important is the bloodline producing champions.

Agreed. Just for the 'champions' we'll have to see and wait a little. :)

You have a remarkable facility looking for the negative in anything Polish. It's automatic. Have you discussed this peculiar and
abnormal obsession with a therapist or with your God?

If a Polish person walked on water, you'd condemn him or her for polluting it instead of marveling at the feat (I wanted to spell it feet).

MediaWatch:
Stosur is also a Polish name.

I had a great, great uncle with the German sounding name of Stumber, yet he was 100% Polish. By the way, he walked on water.

The same bloodline that has been merged with German, Russian, Ruthenian, Lithuanian, Czech, Slovak et al blood throughout the years?

What's important is the training that they recieive, plus a bit of luck and physical ability.

Like all the other players in the top 20, 30 in WTA...but I am glad for a change that lots of slavic girls are on the top. Makes watching their tennis much more fun than to see those Mc Donalds girlies. ;)

Liar.
You know very well that Agnieszka Radwańska lives in Poland.
Caroline Woźniacki visited Poland too.
Why are you lying, Harry?

Of what, Poland's dire ability to produce top level sportsmen?

(something I intend to do something about, though)

Yeah, in that Poland is way better than the UK e.g Poland produced Malysz and the UK produced Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards.

Did Malysz succed because of being Polish, or in spite of it?

The utter dire record of the other Polish ski jumpers until this season suggests the latter.

For the final she didn't train enough. Lost though. ;)

There will a next tournament... :)
