Who cares? For me Ukraine and Poland are in the final. 5:4 on penalties :) The referee was from Serbia, Crowie's brother. Ukraine got 29 red cards and Poland - 1 yellow ;)

They're not consistent enough. Not that impressive against Jamaica and Germany.

I like the cloggies...Spain has, as usual, been really impressive, but they'll blow it once they get past the group stage...as usual..

The cloggies always seem to choke as well just like the Spanish. You can never write off the Germans.

England (alas) just don't have enough quality.

I'm hoping for a positive surprise again!

Right now everything goes according to the pattern...meaning we are abysmal during our build-up-test games.

And then do amazingly well, and then once everyone builds up hope, flush it down the toilet.

Thats my prediction. I may well be wrong, only time will tell.

With their squad, Maradona could be off his head on charlie on the sidelines and they would still win it.

could?

On a side note, if they do win, I expect there to be reports of Maradonas heart exploding about 72 hours after the final game.

Well, they had such a super-duper squad last time too but still they got kicked out quite early...

For me it also lacks quality in depth.

They have the best midfield and strikers in the tournament. Any team with Messi in it should be feared.

I'll support Slovenia, Slovakia and Serbia (too bad Poland, Czech Republic, Russia
and Ukraine aren't there to represent Slavija... oh, well). C'mon you Slavs!!! :-)

Slovenia

Hej Slovani, naša reč
slovanska živo klije
dokler naše verno srce
za naš narod bije

Slovakia

Hej, Slováci, ešte naša
slovenská reč žije,
Dokiaľ naše verné srdce
za náš národ bije.

Serbia

Хеј Словени, јоште живи
Дух наших дедова
Док за народ срце бије
Њихових синова

I can't believe Ireland were unceremoniously dumped out by a crock of sh*t French team. If Japan are still in it, I'll be cheering for them.

Serbia

I predict that the Serbs will top their group and have a good WC. If they get a bit of luck and avoid the big guns, they could get to the QFs.

Hmmm... there is a certain logic behind that (and besides - as Crow has scientifically
proven, Germans are Slavs as well). OK - you convinced me. How do you say:
"Hey Slavs, our Slavija has not yet perished as long as long as our hearts are beating
for our nation" in German?

Hopefully! There is a bit of common sense in you after all, RN!

Could Germany field a national team which is exclusively made up of Polish-born players?

Yes, argues Daniel Kaiser and gives an outlook for a possible 2010 team where even the coaching staff and bus driver are of Polish origin.

That would be a scandal on a huge scale! :-)

If Japan are still in it, I'll be cheering for them.

They have a good chance of progressing past the group stage. They got one of the easier groups.

Of course the Brits got the easiest group of the lot. Bring on the impending QF defeat in a penalty shoot out.

Torq:
The case where the women from Argentina of Irish descent were refused entry while chancers from Africa and the middle east waltzed in was/is a disgrace.

Ghana will be hindered by Essiens long term lay off with injury, Serbia should have too much for them. The Aussies are just cannon fodder, the Serbs should breeze through them. The Krauts are notorious late starters. Serbia should be able to knick a point from them, leaving them top with seven points.
