Wroclaw, a city that Poland proposed to host, decided to terminate its agreement with the firm Mostostal Warszawa''''because of delays in the construction process
Poland's preparations to host Euro 2012 alongside Ukraine suffered a setback today when one of the host cities canceled an agreement with the company responsible for building one of the stadiums for the tournament.

The City Mayors, Rafal Dutkiewicz, sent them letters, the builder didn't respond to the first two. On the third letter, they admitted they were late and requested a month's extension.
The Mayor thought this was unacceptable and is already in talks with the second nominee for this tender after throwing the original builders off site.
These builders were unprofessional, so he did the right thing in my opinion, got rid of them and get someone else in while there is still time.

If the stadium construction work continued as until now, the facility would take over 8 years to complete” – said the mayor of Wroc³aw, Rafa³ Dutkiewicz

The good news is that the contract with a new contractor is to signed in January already and that the stadium should still be ready by spring 2011,

i dont want to see my spain winning the eurocup in a stadium what looks like it is from the 3rd world

I am still annoyed that krakow couldn't get it together to host it.
Fair play to Wroclaw and Poznan but Krakow really messed up there, it is really embarrassing that they did not get any of the matches for Europes biggest event, silly buggers.

They reckon there's enough time to build, in the article I posted, they said it'll be ready in Spring 2011. At least he found out now rather than later.

Just don't make them as safe as the track for the 2010 Olympics.

Ukraine are doing okay they have the Shakhtar stadium (which incidently my company had quite a bit of input on, they designed it) - its a 50,000 seater so there shouldnt be any problems with space ;0)

Just in the news....accusations of corruptions against the allocation of the EC championships to Poland/Ukraine.

Italy was the big favourite and was seen a sure winner back in 2007 but now it seems as if the vote for Poland/Ukraine was bought. :(

The accusations comes from a football official of cyprus...Spyros Marangos. He says he has proof he wants to show it in a court.

They are interviewing him right now...UEFA not accessible today...

Why?

It's not him being corrupt...

Comparing corruption levels to Italy.. I really see no difference in this case.
Some things are simply better unspoken.
This Spyros is probably himself angry that he did not receive a fair cut from organizers of Euro 2012 in Poland-Ukraine..

Maybe it's possible to change a stubborn Germanic mind, after all.

I see the Slavic influence shining through!
