1st time in Poland

OK this will be my first time out the States and I need to know if I can get basics in Warsaw.Are there taxis ? Do you have burgers and donut bars and US style beer bars? Will hotel staff speak english and understand me as an american?
I'm gonna be there 1 week and before I buy guidebooks need to know these things

I do know that hotel staff speaks English, and Americans receive Medal of Honor upon arrival. Just for being American. You will have a great time in Poland.

Taxi drivers do not speak English, but if you speak to them very very very slowly in English, they will understand.

When it comes to burgers and donut bars, you will have to cook your own burgers. Just go to the market and buy some meat. I forgot, in Poland you cannot buy beef. Perhaps, you can bring your own donuts from the States. Which ones do you like, Crispee Cream or Dunkin Donuts, I like Kay's Donuts.

When it comes to beer, is it imported from Australia, and takes like kangaroo piss.
Try vodka for breakfast, with cream and sugar.

What is the reason you are going there? If you can't leave all that american shit behind for a week and experience the country, then just stay home.

before and its kinda scary but I guess europeons kinda know something about the USA and will lay on a spread. Next time in Walmart a guide to Poland will be in my basket!

So, you mean you`re for real ?

Poland very similar to the US, though most things here are much more complicated (beginning from road signs in cities to common law) - though ofcourse you aren`t going to find as many McDonald bars as in the US, cose American junkfood isn`t very popular here. Those McDonalds that you`re going to find here, though are in a better condition (when it comes to hygiene, staff ect.) than most of those you have in the US.

..I can not understand how someone is willing to eat that crap - but if you like it - it`s your choice.

When it comes to transportation I wouldn`t recomend taxis. You can get here everywhere with public transportation, which is perfectly safe and reliable, unlike in your country. If the tax drivers are going to see that you`re an American.. an American who is so naive as you are - they will just drive you around the whole city and bill you for the whole cruise.

He's actually correct when it comes to the McDonalds being cleaner. I found that most PL ff restaurants are cleaner than ours.... McDonalds, KFC.

But you don`t see them on almost any corner. I`m quite sure that in whole Kraków there are less than 10 of them and it`s good that way - I can not stand junkfood.

Lódź - there`s not much to see there for tourists, but it`s a city popular among artists becaouse of its specific climate.

I you want to visit a good place go to 3City, Wrocław, Kraków, Malbork, Kazimierz Dolny, Zakopane, Zamość, Poznań, Toruń, Hel or hundreds of places.. but not Katowice and Łódź..
..Katowice and the whole area around it is a heavy industry center and Łódź is quite similar to Brooklyn - it`s a XIX century city - which might be good for some, but you`re going to there most things that you`re going to see in the US as well.

I'd definitely visit Gdansk-Malbork-Poznan-Krakow-Zakopane-Wieliczka (salt mine). Have fun!!

That's why there are so many fat, unhealthy Americans. All they eat are burgers, fries and sodas. And they wonder why so many heart attacks? They go to Europe, and the first thing they look for is a McDonald's. They can (maybe) survive one day eating European foods, but that's it. They need their burgers and fries.
I know an American couple who adopted two children from Poland. While in Poland, they of course couldn't stand eating healthy Polish foods. Where do you think they took the kids? Yes. McDonald's. And what do you think the kids did? They just looked at the burger and fries and pushed it all away.
It's the way you are brought up. In America there is a so called "mass media". Which means you do what everybody else does, otherwise, you're a freak. They don't know how to think outside the box.

I can bring on some health statistics that will show that the larger part of Americans (some other nations in the World - but mostly Americans) and this creates serious health problems.

But forget about the whole health issue - I can understand that unhealthy food can also taste great - but the problem with junkfood is that in most cases it dosn`t even taste good.
