I've polish girlfriend, she's very clever, honest, modest but she has strong mind. Where does it come? From polish men drinking too much?

It's because we live in caverns, eat raw meat, and above all, we in Poland don't have TV receivers

Is that a problem for you that she's not passive, malleable and desn't want to do anything you say ?

Why are you offending polish men ? Not all of them drink too much. In fact, after I came to the UK, I find out that they don't drink more at all than local people.

You are quite right on strong mind but I meant polish women look to be stronger than polish men, due to their duties maybe...

I also have a Polish girlfriend and yes they are very wilful and head strong, which I found very exasperating until recently, but they also have many endearing qualities that more than compensate- saying that I know some Polish girls who are more passive, although it may be that they appear passive, I’m not romantically involved with them so I can’t be sure- certainly my GF appeared passive until we began a serious relationship, then the rolling pin came out - LOL.

Maybe it’s because British guys have had it too easy and are over due a kick up the arse?

ETA: as regards their physical strength, I think that varies just as it does with other European Nationals [or rather the Human Race], and I’ve met some pretty big Polish and Slovak guys in the last 2 years, certainly I wouldn’t want to arm wrestle them. My girl is probably physically stronger than other [non- Polish] women I’ve dated but I don’t think that is because she is Polish, that is because she is who she is.

Sorry am I an infidel because my opinions don’t confirm with yours?

If my expression of an opinion has upset the forum members then of course I will apologise, recant, and allow the ’inner circle’ to educate me so that I make no further errors. At the end of the day [it gets dark] I was only expressing my opinion based on my experience of Polish people, I’m sorry it didn’t meet with your approval.

Don't worry about it. You said it how you see it. Women will be women.

Are Polish women strong? I guess no more than any other women in the world. It is not the nationality that makes you strong, but rather the circumstances. Those for whom life is pretty hard must be strong. I guess you're basing your opinion on the Polish women you met in the UK so just think what qualities it takes for women (or men) to leave their countries and start a new life in a foreign country from scratch.

Sure we have a lot of strong women in Poland, but they are all around the world as well. I know many non-Polish women who have to be strong as they have no choice. We've got a saying here: "Kto ma miękkie serce musi mieć twardą dupę" which translates as "Those with a soft heart need a hard arse."

I don't think our strength is induced by the fact that Poles drink too much. No strong woman would put up with a drunk. We - women - are strong as we have to take care of ourselves.

We have a saying here in the UK as well:

"What do you say to a woman with 2 black eyes? Nothing. You've already told the ***** twice."

Let me just tell this one to you:

Two guys are talking about their wives and one of them says:
-"Yesterday I got back home totally wasted and I had my wife kneel down in front of me." Astonished, the other one asks
-"Really? What did she tell you?"
- "Get out from under the bed you scoundrel!"

:P

Hehe - like it!

OK - here's one for the ladies:

Q. What do you call the useless bit of skin around a penis?
A. A man.

What if he's circumcised?
Just kidding. Don't mean to ruin the joke.

Intresting debate, especially for a man who has been with a polish woman for the past 3 years.

my opinion ,if anyone cares is that Polish women (my missus and her friends) ,are STRONG of opinions but soft on LIFE which is very much like Mancuians, Anyway I don't really know who I'm writing to (1st time commenterer!) so i'll see what you think .

strong mind. Where does it come form?

it simply comes from hardhsip in life, wars, communism, strugling economy -women had to be strong in order to survive, so did Polish men. It's a result of socio-economic situation. All women in my family are strong and I wouldn't think twice about questiong it (my gradma survived 2 wars, one immigration and rised 8 children - if I had to ask her why she is so strong headed - she would look at me in a strange way). It's a survival and there is nothing to be ahamed of. Since when strengh is seen as a negative characteristic?
People "inherit" behaviour from their parents and in Canada Irish men are percveived as strong headed. If there weren't they would not advance in anti-Irish, pro- British early Canada or USA. In the 19 and 20 th century Irish and other Europen immigrants were treated as the second category. Nowdays it's very different. It it weren't for the pride , hard work and dedication - Irish people would not achieve what they have now. A strong community and self respect.

Yes, we are strong. In most families the women are in charge of the family budget. My mother was, her sisters and now...my sisters and me... Single polish women who are my friends in Chicago, have good jobs, own their houses etc. Of course, there are planty of households where the man is in charge.
I work with American women. Their husbands are in charge. Again, not a rule, but that's what I see. A couple of my single, American friends seems to struggle more.

I was making realistic comments about Irish, taking into account their situation.
I wasn't aware of a bad coverage, Irish don't get bad press here, nor anybody else for that matter, although I might be wrong, because I don't read newspapers.
I see many faces on the "tube" everyday and they are of many nationalities. I know that every one of them has their story and it's not for me to jugde.
