Poznan University of Technology - information needed (Telecommunication master)

Hi All
I plan to study a master program at PUT by sep.2012, but I'd like to get mor information about Poznan as a city, life style, cost of living, shall I live alone or share with someone, is a safe city or ont and how is the local transportation?

Regarding to study at PUT wish someone already study there to help me and give some information about the university it self, way of education and professionally?

is it easy to find a part time job during study specially if I'm looking for a job in the same field of telecommunication?

Hows the telecom filed growing in Poland?

Hi im 16 and i plan on joining poznan university of technology in onctover 2014 in english medium. i am of indian descent but ive been living in the western hemispehere all my life. i just want to know in advance how it is in poznan,the dorm life, the university in particular, and any other things that i should know beore i settle into the university also i want to know is it safe place for foreigners..

I can think of very little that a Polish university would offer that an Indian university couldn't. And top engineering schools in the States are of a far higher standard than anything in Poland. If you have the brains and grades to get an academic scholarship, try to get one of the better American universities, like Harvey Mudd or Rose-Hulman. If you're not able to find funding, then try one of the better Indian universities.

The main problem with engineering schools in Poland is that R&D money is very tight, practical courses are abysmal, and partnerships between universities and industry are poorly developed. The situation is actually better in India.

Hi there, I have been accepted in PhD program in Engineering management school in Poznan University of Technology. And I wish to have some answers on the below:

1. The university will not afford me with any papers for my Wife and daughter. Is this normal? Does the acceptance letter is enough for me and my family to get the visas?

2. Anyone in the same program?
3. Am I allowed to work? I did not manage to get scholarship and working is very important to me.
4. Any information about the PR? do my years in the university will be considered as part from the 5 years needed to get the PR?

Basically, no. There is very little chance that you will be able to find a job, even less so one on which you could support yourself, your wife and your child in Poznan. If you do not have enough cash to pay your way through your whole study period, forget about coming. Of course, chances are even lower that your wife will find work.

Sorry, but it does not appear that you will be able to study in Poland, especially if you are expecting to bring your wife and child along. Without a 100% scholarship that covers your tuition and apartment, there is nothing you or anyone can do.


Engineering management courses are generally not very useful for finding high paying jobs. Your time would be better spent beefing up your engineering qualifications than taking a whole bunch of time consuming and useless management courses. Try getting a degree in petroleum engineering, geological engineering or biomedical engineering at a good school in Egypt.


As I said, studying in Poland is not a viable option for you. There is no advantage for you in coming to Poland to study. If you are thinking of Poland as an easy back door to the EU, think otherwise. That would be a foolish mistake, and you will waste a lot of time and money.

Get a more useful and salable engineering degree in the fields I mentioned from a good school in Egypt or other country in the region, and you will have little trouble finding high paid jobs anywhere you want. Those specialties are in high demand and demand will increase throughout your lifetime.

Thanks a lot dear. I got my masters already and I'm in a very well shape in my work now. It is not like a back door to EU. It is for the degree itself for me, I'm interested in the school and the degree.

Even if you will have right to work, you don't have much chance to earn enough to pay for the whole family.

5000 netto or brutto?Anyway its not enough for 3 people in Poland to live a normal life.

That is too little to support a family of three and pay school fees, whether net or gross. Also take into account the cost of airfare to and from Poland, and your visa fees, and you will have less than nothing left.
