My surname Fabiseski and origins?

Hello everyone.
I have been trying to trace my family history, but can't seem to find much here in the U.S.
My Great-Grandfather moved to America around 1900. He died when my grandfather was young, so my grandfather never gave me much information about him. I'm wondering if I can determine the region in Poland where my family came from.
My last name is Fabiseski. I'm told this is an "Americanized" spelling. I've been told that the Polish spelling may have been Fabiszewski, but I don't know if this is true.
The only records about my Great-Grandfather that I've found is a 1920 census from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His name is on it, and spelled Alex Fabisheski. I'm assuming this spelling is how he pronounced the name, so this is how the census- taker recorded it.
Does anyone know if this information can help me find my families roots.
If any of you guys can help me I'd really appreciate it. I've hit a dead-end in my search here and don't know where else to look.

Hmm.. The closest surnames I can find are Fabecki, Falczewski, Faliszewski and Faliszowski, but none of them are close enough to give a definite guess.

The names I mentioned before were just alternative names, which it may've been, if this didn't occure.

Yes, Fabiszewski may very well be the original spelling of my name. Many names of immigrants in America were changed over the years to assimilate easier in the country and language.
In doing research, I have noticed several other Fabiszewskis in the U.S., but I don't know them, and don't think we're related.
Is Fabiszewski an unusual name in Poland?

Bryon, you can try to use the ShtetlSeeker at JewishGen.org to make a wildcard search for placenames in Poland starting with Fabiszew-.
For me it sounds like one of those many 'of somewhere'-names.
In my own family I have for example the Radziszewski-family from Radziszewo-Sienczuch in the Podlasie-region.

You can look at PolishRoots' site for 'Origins & Meanings" (through Google), where you can get hints about how Polish surnames were created.
- And I've checked earlier; your name isn't there on the list.
