Taliban in Pakistan, should the allies go into Pakistan?

We are underestimating the threat tho. Al Qaeda are as strong as ever, hardly a triumph for the world's no1 superpower

Unfortunately, technology in such a war can only go so far.....Its difficult to drop bombs when these people are hiding in the general population....... In a war such as this we need soldiers and America is stretched as thin as it can be without leaving its self vulnerable to an attack from a country that may take advantage of a move to send all available soldiers.....I don't think Al Queda poses a threat as of yet that can destroy us, however if left unchecked it has the potential to grow into an organization that can....Once Iraq is stable, then we will be able to turn our focus onto differrent fronts of the war... Next is Pakistan now not saying an invansion but we need to keep that option open.. , we cannot afford to have extremist elements gain control of a nuclear country....

You know one thing I am finding very disturbing? I've been watching too much history channel, I suppose, and all the "soothsayers" of years past have "predicted" that the world as we know it will end in 2012 (the same year a lot of things that are controversial are suppose to take place).

I don't necessarily believe in soothsayers, but I do believe the world has a say in it's future....that's only if the world can agree, which doesn't look promising (oh God, I'm sounding like Hairball...no offense, HB).

I love my life in the country of America....doesn't mean I love it's politics or foreign policy....I know America has screwed up in many ways.....the question is, how do we turn it all around without causing even more chaos?

I guess if I knew the answer to that, I would be a world leader (rolls eyes).

Watched something about that date also, for example Myan calander ends on that year and several psychics have said it......their is a end of the world scenerio every century and so far, well you know the so far we are all still here...Its not so bad, yes America has made mistakes, nothing to lead to its destruction ..........Yes the war on terrorism will last for decades, however its nothing that will stop the world from spinning....things are not perfect, but good enough at least for now not to worry...

Like you said, "at least for now". How long have we've (USA) been saying that? My concern is the future children of this world.....I will admit, I don't have any (not because it wasn't desired at a certain time in my life); as far as I know, I can still have children, but I don't want them now....and I worry about my nieces and nephews and their families.....

I guess I'm playing "Devil's Advocate" here, but I see a lot of what you are saying is only a mirror image of what others are saying.....Like I said, I love that I live in the country that I do (USA), but I understand other countries frustration with us....we are accusing them of the exact things we are accused of......atm, I believe we are the only "official" SuperPower, so they have every right to accuse.......checks and balances( for the WORLD:)

Ranj, this anti americism is on the decline, even if you don't see it....more countries are seeing the need to fight terrorism....and more and more people of the world are striving for democracy.... its not going to happen overnight, As far as the threats to humanity, don't even think about it or no point of living life..... just do what you want, and whatever happens, happens......if people thought about this during the cold war, with the threats of nuclear bombs looming over their heads....nothing would get accomplished....

This article is an opinion peace, however it provides some useful information.. Europe and especially western EU must wake up and step up to the plate.....

the point is i was watching fabio on the tv and it suddenly occured to me that southern italy is closer to the middle east than it is to europe - this means that italians are more arabic than they are european. by default, as arabs they are obviously muslims and as such, should be persecuted

I think you are looking at the surface and not results. It was not by accident a top leader was removed. USA can only share what will not put plans in harms way. Same goes for Pakistan, the mear mention of helping allies is a death wish. Delicate situation with to say the least. Drones tell no lies.

The reality is that the Pakistani security forces are not well enough equipped to take out the Taliban, nor contain them. Without allied assistance, they are dead in the water. Celinski, what do u make of Obama's plan to go in against the will of Pakistani leader Musharraf? The Taliban must be laughing at the Allied Forces efforts. They are picking off the Pakistani guards like amateurs.
