Is tallness common among Polish people?

I was reading the Godfather, and I noticed a point made about Sicilians' being short/average in general. It caused me to think about the usual height of Polish people. I'm about 6'3. My grandfather's cousin was nearly 7', and a Polish friend of mine is nearly my height. Is tallness a common thing in Poland? I haven't met many short Polish people in my life, so I thought I'd ask this.

The real question should be "Are they well endowed?". LOL

I'm 5'9 at age 16, probably got couple years to go. I would say most are about average height though...

Some of these questions should be very obvious. Poles are not from another planet. What do they teach in school nowadays - not history, sociology, or geography for sure.

Such questions create even more silly stereotypes about Poles in general. How can one answer such a general question like "are Poles tall?". How would one answer the question "Are Poles fat"? It's all subjective opinion and the answer should be: "It depends - some of them are, some are not."

Yes, it depends, my dads family is from a rural farming area and my mums family is from a smaller town. Im sure you may find there is some common link between their heights and their environments.

it isn't a silly stereotype, silly stereotype is that all poles do is drink.

No, No, No, Poles are a relatively tall group. I read this somewhere. The dutch are the tallest in europe at like 6'1" The poles were like 5'10 or 5'11". As far as averages go... The Germans, Scandinavians, and English, were tall too.

Yet the Italians, Greeks, Spanish were shorter. Basically around the mediteranean people are shorter. I think the Italians were lik 5'8" on average.
This is just for men though. Its different ethnic groups. Slavs and Nordics tend to be taller than the ethnic groups in southern europe.

Yes the Dutch are very tall, which in itself amazes me that with them long leg strides it takes them so long to get to the bar and buy a round of drinks. !!

It's totally misplaced question. The proper one, suitable one should be: WHY ARE POLES Soooo SHORT???
To answer your question though: Poles are on avarege shorter then the Duch or Scandinavians or Germans (who IMO have large mumber of trully tall folks).

haha Perhaps they are cheap, so true. Unfortunately I'm hearing they are getting more chauvinists like English these days which is sad.

Holland is ok really i lived there for a number of years, they joke about it themselves, it is certainly not as liberal as you may be led to believe once you live and work there. In general though it is a pretty good place and relatively safe. By the way i'm from England

I think Poles are generally taller than other nationalities (eg. English). There are lots of slim, tall, willowy looking girls and lots of tall or tallish men. That's my personal opinion anyway.

Except for the ones in Los Angeles. They're shorter for some reason. Maybe smog stunts growth?
