Tartan Army backs Poland

AFTER 10 years of being unable to cheer on their favourites at the finals of a big football tournament, the Tartan Army is switching sides to back Poland at this summer's European championships.

Lets hope they don't let that get in the way of supporting Poland. After all, they support Scotland when they play and there is usually Celtic players in the Scotland team.

However, I'm pretty happy that it seems Poland will get a lot of extra support from the Tartan Army, good stuff :)

Ranked 15th in the world now down from 13th a couple of months ago, I'd say we're doing ok.

Its actually fairly rare that Rangers supporters go to watch the national team. Majority of them would rather travel to England before going to Hampden.

Thats exactly what makes watching football in Scotland unbearable at times. Religion has nothing to do with football nor does politics. And Boruc should have known better than to display that at an Old Firm game. Emotions are tense at those games anyway no need to provoke the opposition even more.

Have a read through here about the last Old Firm game and the aftermath of their religious hatred.

Scotland slipped up against Georgia, we screwed up at the critical moment. Had we won that game, that would've been enough.

Anyway, I'll be cheering for Poland. They have a decent chance, they just need to get off to a flier to raise the mood. Beenhaaker is the right man to do this.

Old Firm game

Majority of Scots find the old firm an embarassment, most of the Tartan Army tend to come from the East coast and the North of Scotland.

So........anyone got any spare tickets ? There was a link on the forums a while back but it was too complicated for a simple lad like myself to work out.

as a rangers fan myself i can confirm that what you said is true, there are more Rangers fans with England shirts than Scotland ones!!!

yeah its funny until Boruc gets attacked or abused outside the ground. That stupid dumb monkey dosen't understand the trouble it causes outisde of the ground between the two sets of fans. A typical eample of a prat who dosen't realise the consiquences of his actions.

(I realise that its not just the Celtic side that this happens on and am more than willing to accept that)

Why is Spain up with Italy and Germany???
When did they did cut something internationally???

URL

...Spain has a reputation for underachievement in the FIFA World Cup, with their best finish being fourth place in 1950 despite often being among the pre-tournament favourites. ...

URL

...Germany is one of the three most successful national teams at international competitions, having won a total of three World Cups and three European championships...Germany is the only nation to have won both the men's and women's World Cups....

stop to cry !!!! we never win anything, but we always are there like a bad smell

Rankings are judged with a computer program with the following criteria:

1. Winning, drawing and losing
2. Number of goals
3. Home or away match
4. Importance of the match (multiplication factor)

5. Regional strength (multiplication factor)
the rankings dont mean anything, The rankings are stupid

I agree, the FIFA ranking doesn't mean a thing... Ghana 14th...Cameroon 17th, Bulgaria 18th... The USA 21st ?? Why, because they beat the Dominican Republic ? Haha... ;)

Ghana are ahead of us, oh the shame!! Then again, England are only 4 places above. I don't think Bulgaria should be that far ahead of Poland, if at all. Their glory days are over.

bulgaria is higher cause they generally win. they generally win cause if you look at their matches lately, they generally play with crap teams. are they able to play in euro 2008? obviously no.
but this ranking sucks or not, we'll see what really happens in euro 2008 ;)

I'm aware of that, infact I was talking about the Rangers supporters who are members of the Tartan Army (yes, they do exist ;)

Both of these points are true. Many supporters of teams outwith the old firm would gladly see them leave the SPL.

Has anyone managed to buy a Poland Euro 2008 shirt in Scotland? If so, where? :)

Plenty of them over here in Northern Ireland, I actually bought the away top :D

Sad state of affairs that, I wouldn't even wear an england top esp since we humiliated them at Windsor Park but in saying that there are a lot of celtic fans who would wear a republic of ireland top before a scotland top due to some "history" that celtic players were overlooked in past scotland squads and the whole confused nationality that exists in the old firm.

Same :D

We only hate the players when playing for their clubs :P

Aye he did, wind up merchant that he is, bit of an arse but tbh if the shoe was on the other foot I'd be laughing at it :P
