Teacher Needed in Pruszków Mazowieckie

Hello, I am a teacher in a small and friendly language school in Pruszków Mazowieckie. This is a friendly, family run firm in the centre of town and I enjoy working here a lot. Unfortunately my girlfriend has to return to Budapest and I have decided to go with her. It's very short notice and very close to the begining of term and I am loathed to let my boss down. Therefore I invite any English native speakers to apply here for my job. The pay is very good, the conditions are excellent and there are plenty of hours. Pruszków is very handy from central Warsaw - with SKM and WKD as well as plenty of buses.....

Well, if you're interested please call 022 728 7145
or email your CV to littlebritain@02.pl (ul. Koścuiszki 8, 05-800 Pruszków)
Ask to speak with either Philip or Mark

Thanks a lot

I teach groups of kids from about 13/14 and adults from beginner to Advanced (But not profficiency)... However, I do not teach Matura and I don't teach young kids, but if you are prepared to do that (and trained) more hours would surely be available. Essentially from elementary to advanced.

The hours are from 14 - 20.00 generally (obviously, we haven't filled all the courses yet)

The books we use are:
Winners
Adventures
English File
Headway
FCE Masterclass
CAE Mastercass
as well as others - and our own materials of course!

And the pay is comparable to Warsaw: 35złotch an hour (more if you have to give in company lessons) - but it really is best to negotiate with my boss!

If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask

And the right candidate could start on the 2nd of October

Hi Himal,

welcome to PF... you are a long way from home and I hope your enjoy the diversity. Its great that you are doing an MBA.... and the though that comes to mind is why do you want to teach English to children when you have a business degree with the potential to work in big company back home in Nepal or India. Nepal shares an open border with India and you can send your CV to Naukri dot com.

Secondly,, people from the Indian subcontinent are not considered as "traditional native speakers", of English though some Anglophone Indians are considered to be native speakers by UK universities in the last few years. A total of 100 million native English speakers from a total of 1.4 billion people from the Indian subcontinent has not helped the remove the sound of the sterotyped Indian accent and malapropisms in the Indian English from the minds of foreigners.

Unless you are able to prove that you studied in a traditional Western English speaking country and have a TESOL/TEFL qualification and are able to closely mimic a native speaker's accent.... your chances of landing an English teaching job in Europe are very slim.

I hope you dont get offended by this post...but better an Indian tells you this than you continue posting and get either no replies or get some replies filled with Western condescension. I would suggest that you move back to the Indian Subcontinent and contribute to the development of proper use of the English language , try to find a business related job that may get you a work permit or if you are so hung up on becoming an english teacher then please move to CHINA , TAIWAN< KOREA or the ASEAN trade area. In recent years, Indians have slowly been accepted as fluent English speakers if not native speakers by these Asian countries

However, the money is quite low... 450-600 USD + accomodation and travel in China and the Asean REGION and 1500 - 2000 USD + accomodation and travel in Korea and Taiwan. Dont get tempted by the money as you will remain a teacher all your life and never be promoted... the Director will always be a Western native speaker and you will always be encouraged to mute your home culture and promote the virtues of the Anglo sphere countries...USA/UK etc. Any attempt to introduce the topic of your homeland will spark unease and silence in any conversation. So be warned.... and advance at your own peril... if you are ambitious and outgoing, the lack of upward mobility will wear you out.

Good luck with your life and enjoy Poland as long as you are here..

Czesc

PS.. Have you considered moving to the UK as a manager... they need middle management.... and if you have the professional experience... then give it shot.

Czesc Tabu,

Its me again.. and saw your post here... and it pains me to say people don't give your jobs because you are middle class.... or rich....or because you are brown or yellow... they give it to you ONLY because they are convinced that you are suitably qualified and can do a good job for them. I wish you had taken the time to read my post above before posting ...as it explained a lot of things to consider before you apply for this kind of a job.

If you are serious about becoming a Teacher of English , get qualified and I think you can even do it in Poland...

Czesc, Tabu,

Just saw your post... and you seem a bit angry about my post... for someone who has considerable experience in this field, and the right bits of paper and shared ethnic origin, I think I am reasonably fair.

I posted this to make you aware how much more work is needed before you will be accepted for a teaching position in Western establishment..

I am sorry that you feel offended by my post... but this is reality. Indian value systems don't work in Europe so you must adapt to the new situation. If your way of facing reality in Europe is calling me names and other childish remarks...then I don't mind at all... I put such such juvenile behaviour behind me a long time ago.

For the record, should you succeed in your quest..do drop a line so that I stand corrected...

Good luck once again

Czesc Justyias,

Ah yes it was...and more s the pity.. and perhaps you are right about Indians being weird....as I get that feeling sometimes when I visit India but when I last checked in India, the Indians told me that they felt Europeans were weird... wonder why ???

I personally think its absolutely idiotic to call 1.1 billion people weird just because 2 Indian FOBs applied for job that was a year old.. gosh don't people read dates anymore ???

will be online for another 60 minutes...in case you decide to post some intellectually stimulating comments..Nothing like a good read before bed time.. Darn ..its a Monday tomorrow
