We get lucky up here in Northern IL, only about 2 or 3 a year
I`ve never seen one in Chicago but we get warnings all the time.

yeah, i haven't really had the mispleasure to be around one except for sleeping right through a couple that never touched down but hovered.
i think buildings would possibly break one up but nothing would stop one hitting the first one. but cities have quite a bit more heat then the countryside so that may help.
i am thinking it was a couple of years ago that a highrise downtown here got heavily damaged by one.. they even thought they may have to raise it but are now fixing it. i'll look for some pix here. i've seen the posted somewhere before.
