Are the Poles in England hated?

With all due respect to the OP, this sort of question is un asnwerable if were being honest with ourselves, there are people in the UK concerned with all sorts of things, let alone whether somebody is polish or not.

Some people are:

Concerned about Immigration: THis means that they are genuinly concerned that the countries immigration policies are wrong and need changing, this may mean that they have adverse views towards those immigrants who come to the country

Racists/Biggots: These people just don't like foreign nationals, no matter what race, religion, nation they are from. As far as they are concerned if you not british then get out.

British Identity: SOme people are really concerned that Britain will not be Britain for much longer, over many many years we have been recieving and welcoming immigrants etc to our country. Everything is changing here and some people are scared/concerned that this is detrement to the countries well being. For example we have had all sorts buildings errected that do not represent british culture, Mosks, Temples etc etc need i say anymore. You can't even buy a piggy bank anymore because it may offend a certain religion. :)

my point is that there are many more things to consider for what might be considered anti-polishness. People in the uk have many concerns/fears that they potrait in different ways depending on their individual personalities, up bringing and even the part of the UK they reside in.

What can i say, were a mixed bunch in the UK :) ON the whole though i think foreign visitors are much welcomed to the uk.

you could try digesting my statement again, to see it's true content. This may help if you can accept that 'many' is a very flexible word.

Im not thinking of going there alone, will take my girlfriend :) and she is spanish (half spanish half jamaican to be correct) so i acually like mixing :)

I know that my question was kind of stupid, because everyone is diffrent... just was a bit worried of what i have seen in polish newspapers or even comments by poles living in the uk. However as i though its propably just a stupid propaganda and i bet those poles saying how bad/rasist british people are havent really met any :):)

We dont want to come to Uk for money, both of us speak perfectly spanish and we both worked as travel agents/trips organisators etc in Spain for last 5 years. and we were paid well and we loved our job, however we wanted to try something new, never been to the UK.

Apart from that when we were in the USA on holidays ( trip around the states on old volstavagen, hipi way ^.^) we came across many people that really dislikes black people (particularly in small cities) and mexicans (everywhere lol), ofc we met loads of great people, however i could feel that black and mexican people were disliked there.

But only if he can get a Visa, right! And you sugestion kennitz that Poles are hated in the UK is totaly un-justified. If that was the case I don't think at least a million of them would have been living there for the past three years!

I did! And the guy was asking if it's TRUE that Poles are hated in the UK. Your post suggested it IS true, when it's not. I know it's not true because I met my wife (who is Polish) through a Pole who I met in Norway and came to stay with me in the UK.

20+ posts after mine, all of whom didn't think I said people from the UK hate Poles. I didn't say come to the U.S because the English hate you. How would I know if Englishmen don't like Poles. I don't live there, and sadly haven't traveled there yet.

But sure, if you want to dig something apart and create a fictitious situation, have a nice time!

I,m both surprised and dissapointed about this, but can understand that some Brits may be suspicious of immigrants from wherever. As we know, people (and animals) usually and naturally have a healthy fear of situations that are different, the fear of the unknown.
Forums like this are usefull tools in promoting communication, and communication is a catalyst toward integration.
A further comment, and this is my personal opinion from being involved with Poles from my wife's paternal roots, is that we are not so much different. Major difference being the lingo.
Open question now...Could/Should our Governments help, and if so, how?

The Polish are not hated here in the UK, however, I think "tolerated" could be as good as it gets.

It's nothing personal (although it would feel that way), but in the main we're angry against our Government for the "open door" policy on immigration. It's not the Polish themselves that the English are upset with. We're a small island and just don't have the resources to cope with all the extra people.

I am English and have been working alongside Polish people for 3 years.What I can tell you is that in the South East of England the Polish are certainly not hated.Employers like them because they are mostly reliable and hard workers.The only complaints earlier were about the sheer number that turned up in the first 2 years (estimated at 750000-1 million) which meant some British workers felt a minority in their companies.There are the moaners and whingers who complain about everything - but that is part of British culture for some(to moan no matter how good life is).In general you will find people have no problem with Polish people - they are making a positive contribution to Britain and most supermarkets now stock Polish food.Also,ignore newspapers like the Daily Mail and Daily Express-they do not reflect the feelings of most British people.

The term English and British are not the same and are not interchangeable.
Scotland has its own government.

I am not that bothered about the English based government but yes I believe the Scottish government should and do help more.

I had a look for comparable links from the English based government but couldn't find any. If anyone can find them please post them.

As my girlfriend pointed out, there may come a day when the Scots turn against the Poles but I pray that that day doesn't come. I'm sure many a Scot and Pole are enjoying a few swallies together somewhere in a Scottish pub

Can't see that happening anytime soon, didn't happen after WW2.
The two cultures have lots of similarities. Some of the things which are seen as old fashioned elsewhere are still seen in the Polish and Scottish cultures.

I dont believe the Poles are hated in England at all, they may be resented by the people who are affected by the employment for which they apply for. I worked in the Hotel industry for a few years and most of the waiters, bar staff, chambermaids were foreign any way its just that now 80% of them seem to be Polish.

I remember temp cheffing at a John Lewis store around 2001 and all the pot washers were foreign, I said to a colleague where are they from and the answer was Poland. Of course they were mostly illegal immigrants then, once may 2004 kicked in you could hear the Polish on the streets talikng from time to time they came out of their shells.

Immigration is an issue in the UK more than any other country I know, buts thats just the way it is we all share this world at the end of the day and I for one am proud of the way the UK is leading the struggle for integration.

P.S as long as they dont blow us up!!!!

I wonder if this is really the case. I have friends from Spain and Italy whole assure me that immigration is much more of a issue there than it is in the UK.

Get them to show u some stats, they are misguided

The last time i was in (Paris a fair few years ago) I witnessed that they had an issue with African blacks, they seemed to be classed as second class citizens.

I also saw the same thing in Italy. But IMO the UK intergrates these immigrants into our society and RACISM is a forbidden word. Have you been to London in the past 10 years? I guarantee you will not find an English worker in any of the fast food restuarants within a 10 mile radius of the city centre unless they are retarted. And then you have Slough, no English people live in Slough.

Please provide us with a whole city in any EU country that has a majority of immigrants.

I'm inclined to agree but I doubt stats would prove anything one way or the other. I imagine the majority of people coming into Italy or Spain are illegal and no one has the foggiest idea who or how many have actually entered the countries.

The UK probably does intergrate immigrants better than say Italy and Spain but I think it's fair to say that the majority of the UK's immigrants are legal where perhaps the opposite is true for the other two.

I DONT THINK SO DUDE, we do itegrate better that is a forgone conclusion but to state that is the reason we can stastically claim more is rediculous. Like I asked have you been to England lately?

Many Romanians I'd imagine. It's easier to understand Latin languages for them. It's a relative thing, what they say is a lot, we say is a little
