My Thoughts on this Forum and Moderators

Ok this is the way i see it...

When i fist came on here as say a virgin to a Polish Community, i didnt know how i would be treated as im no way connected to anyone Polish. But you made me very welcome and i was greatfull as i had many great friends over my time in here, one especially and she knows who she is. When this forum was in the process i would of liked to think i was part of it building process as were alot of others that very rarely come in here now.

Why dont they come in here. Well as i cant answer for them, and will myself, maybe as its over moderated now, I noticed how many of my posts have dropped or gone, ok some might not be great as talking about having sex or so on, as ive seen in here. But guys in the US think just once some of us helped you build this forum as well and we used to have a laugh, but also protect it and take it serious and help others.

We have a Polish Radio Station here in the town that i live in within the UK, somehow had an idea if i could set it up maybe we could do some kind of link in some way. As theres a special woman i want to connect with myself. Im just saying moderators ok your doing a great job, but dont make the same mistake as many chat rooms, theres to many Chiefs and not enough indians.

There will get to a point where there are going to be to many moderators, and thats going to scare ppl away, ive seen it happen many times.

Take care guys

i'm thinking this was in my direction.. it's the attitude hon... on all the forums i am on, you can't even tell they are moderated except in extreme conditions... that's how it's supposed to work.

So now I can't say anything in a topic, as it'll be considered as "moderating"?

I wonder what kind of other sites you mean. Is it better to lie to forum members (or pretend something and do something else)? :)

As I've been here longer than all the above. I'd just like to say that the forum is doing just fine.

It will soon become a prime source for people who wish to learn about Polish History, Polish Genealogy, Polish Food, Translations, Buying Property in Poland and more.

All the new people are just as friendly as those from the early days.

And If I were a moderator I'd be a lot tougher than the ones we have now. Which means that they show a sense of fairness, I can only commend them for.

Well, on the whole, I'm happy with the Forum, Admin and all the Moderators.

And am glad when some threads are deleted <sorry >

The main problem i see is that compared to most forums threads just vanish.

Majority of forums I have been on moderators would post in the thread the reason and then lock it.

To suddenly see a popular long running thread vanish with no explanation does nothing to teach people where the conversation went wrong or why.

you have hit the nail squarely on the head right there!!!! You are so right about that, i was wanting to browse my old 'i want a polish girl to love' thread but i couldn't because it had been deleted, since when did the cyber men take over and start deleting things???

just lock it and leave it so we can load it :)

threads just vanish.

[Yet again, and again...] - The only forums that MAY vanish are the ones from the OFF-TOPIC (not related to Poland) section.

how the heck do you have the time for that? you're here barely over a month raking in over 1100 posts, add to it "other" forums...wow.

Frankly, the mods are too easy on some fly by night guests and members. It supposed to be about learning like Wroclaw said. However for some, it is just an outlet for daily frustrations and anger.

If some members think off-topic threads are PF "problem," I've just found (it didn't take much time) a thread that covers similar issue: metatalk.metafilter.com/11814

'I want a POLISH girl to love'

Well, maybe the first 20 posts were ON Topic; then it became a chat including hundreds of unrelated messages, so first it wen to the Off-topic section and then deleted.

don't try and take the light of yourself, regardless of what other forums do dosen't matter, if people are saying that they may like the threads locked then you can facilitate it or tell them that its not possible.

Either way using the other forum as a scape goat isn't going to work :)

I think the basic point was that other forums have Off Topic problems as well.

To make it even clearer, the "Off-Topic Lounge" is now officially renamed to: Off-Topic Lounge [deletable]. That means ANY topic from this forum may be deleted without notice and explanations.
