How to congratulate my friends?

My close friends just had a baby.

I would like to congratulate them in polish. I'm just starting to learn the language and I just don't know how to phrase it.

Looking it up with the online dictionaries I came up with..


Gratulacja na nowym dziecku!


But I'm not sure a literal translation is proper.


What would be some traditional phrases for congratulating/wishing well the happy parents on their new child?

Gratulacje z okacji urodzin nowego dziecka! (I would think it's a correct version).

Gratulacje z okazji narodzin dziecka!
