Traditions concerning engagement and marrying a Polish girl?

thank god for this website been looking for such a thing for over a week.
look, Ive decided to ask my lovely,gorgeous,loving,carying..... polish girlfriend and was wondering if there are any polish tradition concerning engagements; should i do it in front of her parents? and dunno, what documents she needs to get married here in UK?
I'm really happy and all excited though don't want to do sth stupid and spoil the whole moment. so.... yeah, if you have any advice... id be grateful

I would like to write an arcticle about foreigners who are interested to find a polish girlfriend. I can see there is a lot of abroad guys who appreciate our skills :) I would like to find someone who tells us why he want's to meet a polish girlfriend/wife and let us also publish his photo.
