Transporting Furniture from UK

A friend and I am considering opening a small furniture and design shop in Poland. We want to import interesting and original used furniture, design items and some artworks with the emphasis on affordability, I just don't understand the prices of such things here.
Has anyone any experience of finding cheap transport for such a project? We would be looking for a truckload from UK to Poland once every 4-6 months.
Any comments appreciated
Thanks

I would say the cheapest in the long term would be to buy your own truck and hire your own part-time or full-time driver.

You could try contacting any of the large Polish food distributors in the UK - they often use freelance drivers who go back to Poland with an empty truck

please. just call some logistic companies and ask for prices of standard flat bed transportation, you should be able to receive a good quotation for less then 2.000 Euro from England to Poland.
buying your own truck and driver is not at all gonna be profitable unless you have a full truck load once per week. mind that this truck load shall have to be two ways to be competitive with any logistic company.

I think a full truck load from UK to Poland would be around 1200 GBP/1750 EUR.
At least that is what we pay for a full truck - 33 pallets (Polish transport company). I don't know how much it costs and what the possibilities are if you want to transport stuff that's not on pallets.

Just check with some transport companies in the UK. One that regularly drives from UK to Poland and vice versa is Elcon in Bradford (www.elconltd.co.uk)

However, it's worthwhile to check Polish companies as well, they like to drive back to Poland with a full truck load and offer competitive prices.

We use Pimen (www.pimen.pl) but have also tried Erontrans (www.erontrans.pl) and DFDS (www.dfdstransport.pl)

Just shop around.
