I think you should still be fine in Warsaw as it's the fastest developing city in Poland. If you need more "fresh air" Gdansk or Krakow will be good choices for sure..

I'd go to Gdansk and along the baltic coast if you're going in the summer. It's a good time

It's a personal choice. It all depends if you plan to stay at hotels, guest homes or relatives. What you buy, rent a car etc.
Make a plan. Figure out how many nights you'll stay, where you'll go, what you'll do. It's better to always take more money, if you don't spend it, you take it back home with you. You never know what you'll need it for.

I was ok with 2,500.00 zl for 2 weeks and had a blast. But like Krysia said...depends on what you're doing.

I was going to suggest about $1.000 a week. But take more, just in case.

If you like mountains you should go to the Tatras. They are wonderful Or if you prefer the smaller mountains and you like calm places just go to the Beskidy mountains. In the mountains you will always meet great, real polish people ;)

I'm a tourist organizetor 8/85 and in my opinion, the most exciting are in the polish mountains is Kotlina Kłodzka in Sudety mountais. I have been to each kind of the mountain in Poland but Sudety are most beautiful and exciting. If you wish I can send some pictures from my many trips there. Greetings . Adam

I suggest Zakopane, it's an amazing city. If you like hiking, nature, mountains and things of that sort then you will love Zakopane. My relatives who live there rent out rooms if you're interested, for one person I think they charge something like 35 złote per night. Which is approximatly a little more than $10. If you're interested I can get you more info.

I'm not sure why you call Zakopane a "city". It is a big village to be correct. But pretty nice.

Try the area around the mountains in the South West (karkonoskze). This is a less tourist trodden area but therefore unspoilt and full of lots of treasures and just as important still very well priced.
I run a guesthouse out of a little spa town called Swieradow Zdroj. It is a beautiful place in both Winter Summer Spring but especially Autumn

I guess it is more of a town than a city.

I got mugged in Warsaw last time I was there...I'm going to Krakow next time!!!
But all my fam is in Warsaw, so I'll have to chill there for a while also. Last time I was there it took me 3 hours to cash my traveler's checks...I would avoid the banks--just use your MasterCard.

Warsaw is a dirty city and the vislaw is a very poluted river.

1 USD = 2.75 Zloty

About two years ago everything is about the same price as it is here in the US...may electronics might be cheaper here.

Later,

Bdog

I think you should go to Gdansk, it is a majestic city, eat some traditional food, go to a concert or two, visit the town at night, go to a few clubs or bars, some old churches or castles, oh, it just makes my heart skip a beat thinking about it. For younger, go to the malls, for older, go hiking or biking, far all, go to the beach, if you're there in the summer they sometimes play movies outside on the docks in sopot. Go to a lovely store called Grey Wolf, definitely drink some all-Polish alcohol. I personally don't enjoy going Warsaw a lot, much to modern for me, although Auschwitz is near there and that's a moving experience..most of all, ENJOY! Poland is great no matter what you do!

Katowice above all but Gdynia? No way!

Krakow, Poznan, Wroclaw and Gdansk are all far nicer places to live than Katowice.

And for that matter - Warsaw below Bialystok? errr...

Not at all: they've left Lublin completely off the list!
