I usually travelled to Poland in August. (I know some of you will tell me to check out the other forums...but I'm not going to look through 20 of 'em to find my topic :P sorry hehe :)) I couldn't find it...anywayss...:)

Do most of you (the ones living outside Poland) visit Poland usually in July? or June?

I'm curious to know :) because I want to be there just in time for all the activities that are happening (festivals, fun activities...etc)

My pick is May or September - still cheaper tickets than between June-August. The weather is best in May-July in Poland.

Spring/Summer/Fall? Planning a trip with my Father and Brother. Is there a month that has better weather than others, or certain things to do certain times of year. I would really appreciate the help.

It all depends on what weather you like.

Sunny summers and snowy winters.

Yes definitely, skiing/snowboarding in winter or mountain walking in summer, well that's what I like.

The best thing is to tell us what you'd like and then we might be able to help you more.

Definitely want to be able to walk around and not freeze, was thinking late spring or summer. I would like to do some touristy stuff, as well as drink at the pubs. Go to a sporting event. I like to take a lot of pictures as well. Any festivals that we should go to?

Poland has many fine places and has quite diverse history and geography, mountains to the south, sea to the north, desert somewhere:)
Here are two places you may find of interest:
Recommendations for Krakow and 100 Km south of there is
Recommendations for Zakopane.

Good luck.

Ive been in Winter and its great and Ive been in summer and its wonderful...It depends, if your father is old, the winters can be harsh (but nothing good clothing cant counter!)...You're a bloke so I would advise summer, easy on the eye and I can definately say your dad will enjoy the scenery! Personally I enjoyed both..simply because I visited nice cities and had ball..Wroclaw was great because I met people off there..

I've gotten the most from places in Central Europe during early to mid fall. The tourist hordes have generally already left, and the weather is very agreeable. Football is just kicking off at that time, every teams supporters will still have hope at that point (except Cracovia, the season is usually depressing for them from the start...).

He is 63, so not that old. We live in Boston so weather is probably similar in Winter. I do like scenery! He would too. What are the average temps?

Well, Europe is experiencing some really strange weather of late..In England we got down to -16 a couple of weeks ago..which is out of the norm..I would really suggest going in April...weather will be very nice..they still have season in Poland so you'll have good weather...

My other advise would be, get an apartment...eating out is very reaonable...and you can get up and get some nice fresh produce...bread and ham etc for breakfast...also if there are a few of you it means more space, if you need advice, PM me.

I say SUMMER definitely.... I've been there at all times of the year and I think you can see much more in the summer than you can in the fall, winter, or spring. Plus everyone is just much more happier in the summer, just like everywhere else in the world that has to deal with snow.

For sure. Kraków has a unique, inviting, cosmopolitan atmosphere, lots of great places to go out, lots of things going on - cultural, religious, entertainment events. It's a beautiful, historic city, great architecture, great people. ahhhhhhhhhhhh

I know. I was born there. And I worked as a city tour guide. I'm going for a visit at the end of May this year. Are you free for coffee?

I would say summer, but because you want to:
Czyryca:
Go to a sporting event.

Then definitely it should be May or begining of June. Because in July and August most of serious leagues of any sport are shut down due to holiday season. The only disadvantage would be, that Baltic sea would be still to cold to swim in it... But it would be warm enough for most of others outdoors activities like trekking, bicycles and so on. And last but not least most holiday resorts will not be crowded.

Montreal, great city, cold cold cold, but a lot of fun. Of course I have only been in the winter.

jwojcie:

that is something I didn't even think of (swimming/beach)

I studied in England @ Trinity College, only got to Spain and Italy, along with all over the UK, but didn't get to travel nearly as much as I would have liked.

Late spring or early summer is the most colorful time, with all the flowers etc.

Nice. Thank you I didn't see that one. Appears to be July.

So what are some spots in Krakow and Wroclaw that are good to see/eat/drink?

Also, we wanted to visit Auschwitz, as that has been a huge part of history, albeit a somber part.
