I just took the train from Szcezcin to Krakow in early July this summer. The trains were not crowded, fairly cheap and there was no need to make reservations.

I would feel comfortable telling you to go directly to the train station with your luggage on the morning that you want to travel and go to the Information booth.

One warning: There are no elevators, escalators or porters in Szczecin's main station. - so if you have luggage, be prepared to drag it up and down the stairs.

Trains are not air conditioned, but the windows can be opened. Not a lot of difference in quality between First Class and Second Class - except you may get lucky in First Class and get a private car - that otherwise seats up to six. (Because First Class is much less crowded.)

If your're not short on time and short on money I'd reccommend travelling on saturday or sunday - one day ticket valid on all trains in Germany (express ones excluded) costs ~ 35 euro and is is valid also for trains departing from Szczecin. Ticket can be bought on train train or at the station an is called Schones Wochenedne. 5 ppl can travel on one ticket.

You are thalking about Frankfur/Main of course.
I recommend trains.
The best way will be to take train Frankfurt-Berlin and then Berln-Szczecin (there are many quite cheap but slow trains from Berlin to Szczecin).

Eurolines would normally take you from any european city to any other one, its just a matter of how much time you can afford as you might have to wait for a connection bus along the road.

Your friend can buy her Eurolines ticket from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof. You can also pay for the ticket online, she then picks it up from there upon turning up with a valid ID.

Doesnt your friend speak any english or german at all? Surely she can just turn up at the hauptbahnhof and she will quickly figure out the best way to reach you.

Her journey will start at Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof anyhow as flying is out of the question.

For two weeks it was totally brilliant...we got on really really well , but it was soon clear that she had a very jealous streak... It was not possible to even speak to anyone of the opposite sex without a full blown row over it , and not long after i began to get accused of looking for other women the minute i switched on my computer to check my emails...

It turned out that this is the way she had been treated by her husband for twenty years , and so she thought it was normal behavour...not in my eyes its not...!

I stuck with it as long as i could , but it soon became clear she was never going to be any different , so i put her on a bus back to Latvia...!

Its such a pity , as apart from the jealous bit we got on really great , and she is a lovely person behind all that green monster , sadly i think she is too damaged ever to be able to behave any different... She still writes to me now and then asking me to visit her in Germany where she is working once again... I think i will give that a miss...?
