Hi,

I'm planning on staying in Lodz this weekend and was just wondering if the floods have affected Lodz at all?

Hello dallan,

And welcome to the Polish Forums.

Gazeta newspaper reports on different areas of Poland.
Here is where you will find a report about transportation in Łodz.

Those load adverts annoy me to no end...

Best of luck.

Contrary to the name of the city (Lodz = Boat), Lodz is far from any big river, and those small ones aren't much of a threat either. I believe you have nothing to worry about.

Very beautiful part of the world but bad luck UKPolska for not doing the old homework and owning a gaffe on a floodplain. In the old days the floodplain was the most fertile land and that was the raison d'etre.

Why should the taxpayer pay compensation for this? Aren't people insured aginst this sort of thing?

We knew that it was on a floodplain that hasn't flooded since 1991, and it was a fluke as the banks were worked on two years ago and hadn't settled correctly.

It's ok we are not overly bothered as I said it is our weekend house and I don't feel right in taking money from taxpayers to fix my weekend home, insurance will pay some of it and I will pay the rest.
I feel more sorry for the neighbours around us who have almost all of their possessions and have been slowly moving from dry house to dry house over the last week or so after each house was flooded.

What was surreal was seeing my daughters paddling pool floating off across the fields.
