I asume that you were in Krakow and you`ve visited Wieliczka ?

Yes. Amazing!!! I've never seen anything like it. To think that all of the salt sculptures were crafted by the workers out of free will w/ no pay is amazing in itself.

Yes - you won`t find a second place like this in the whole world.

I`ve got tons of photos from Krakow and the sorrounding areas.. castles ect.

I`m going to post everything when I`m going to have more time.

No - but you shouldn`t use the name "Posen" cose you might get a ver negative reaction.

The city is being called Poznan.

You know the Germans when they occupy something - they give the place a german name and

using those names can bring you into troubble.

Didn't know that. I usually call it Poznan but sometimes I see Posen next to it.

Poznan isn't so beautiful anymore. How come there have been no progress for the last 5 centuries? smile

? - I have no idea what do you mean. The city is courently more than 20 times bigger compared to its size during the XIV-XVI century.

When it comes to the old town - in most part it is being restored to its former look.

i.e. right now - beside what you see there are courently c.a. 50 historic houses undergoing renovation in the old town area and there are also plans to reconstruct the old castle - as well as perhaps in the future - the defensive walls.

What makes the beauty of Poznan is also the new post-industrial architecture introduced by the Kulczyk family:

as you know or perhaps not this is only the first phase of what Mrs. Kulczyk is building in that city.

I got the tour in the town hall that this picture came from. It's amazing that everything is still standing after being on fire so many times.

I don't agree with this. When I was there this past october they were doing restoration work on and around the Parish Church. They were also doing a bit of restoration on the Town hall. The city is definitely still beautiful.

LOL My first trip to Poland I found that out. I wanted to use the public bathroom on the street and was charged smile

It`s not always that way - those who are away from train/bus stations subways ect. are free..
ie. in Warsaw there are free public toilets in the undergroung below the Palace of Culture and Science.. if you`re getting out of the train at the central station.. and if you`re an extreamly fast runner.. and you have enough inner strenght.. you have a slight chance of reaching them before it`s too late..

I was raised in Pastuchow (Lower Silesia) then moved to Swidnica - about 20 km from Pastuchow. Below is an old great catholic church in Swidnica (reconstructed after the World War II):

When is this? Something that I can participate in? Looks like fun.

Also, I'll be driving up to Sopot in a few weeks and wanted to know if there were any cities I might want to visit on the way...something worth seeing anyway smile ...The Pyramids for example.
