Irish Couple getting married in Zakopane. A nice hotel?

Hi We are an Irish couple that would like to get married in Zakopane in Januaray. As neither of us speak Polish it's a bit of a nightmare trying to get information. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel for the reception (preferably highlander style, english speaking) or church with an english speaking priest? Thanks Emma

Hi Emma,

You may want to consider having the church wedding only in Poland, to get the civil side done you will require a lot of paperwork.

This Karczma is excellent the prices are not cheap for Poland, although the quality is very good, I have eaten here many times and always walked away fully satisfied

The problem is that rooms there then are stupidly expensive. My girlfriend wanted to go there in early February but room rates were insane. We ended up flying to Prague and spending less (including the flights) on a week staying in four star hotels and eating well than we'd have spent on just the room in Zakopane.

I hope you aren't planning on bringing a lot of family!

The only one I know of is Villa 'FOUR SEASONS' in Kościelisko, which is a 2* Hotel, If you like that type of thing try http://www.pensjonat-pod-kotelnica.pl/ in Bialka. There is also a very beautiful church in the village. The place is next to the Ski area as well. It also less commercial than Zako.

Very important to take into consideration. In Pl the Slywester period is the silly season for prices, then you have the winter sports weeks for the different voidships, so there is a period of opportunity of about two/three weeks in January, when the Hotels and restaurants are willing to negotiate prices, if you pick the wrong weeks it could be 50% more expensive.

Yep its the Villa Four Seasons (czteryporyroku.pl) , it may only be a two star hotel but it is exactly what we are looking for! Our Irish guests will be blown away by how pretty the old wooden restaurant is! Plus the hotel seem to organise a lot of weddings , judging by their website! Has anyone ever been to a wedding or stayed/ eaten here? The menu and room prices look very reasonable and we are flexible on dates so we can ensure that it doesn't clash with any sporting events !

Can anyone tell me if there are any churches in Zakopane which has English speaking priests?

I suppose you could always bring over a priest from Ireland, he could get in contact with somebody in the Polish parish and they could come to some sort of an arrangement, with the Irish priest presiding over the wedding.

You could bring over an Irish piper for some entertainment and find some of these folks to perform at your wedding

It looks interesting, I have never stayed in this Villa,although I have been to Zakopane and Kościelisko many times over the years. I think the region is wonderful and I am sure your guests would be blown away by what is on offer.

I don't know how familiar you are with Zakopane, so I will point out the obvious, the Villa is in Kościelisko NOT Zakopane, although they are quite close to each other, you will require bus's or taxis to commute if you don't have cars. here is a link with a map at the bottom of the page http://www.gory-latem.pl/artykuly,id,760,tytul,willa-cztery-pory-roku. html. Another point is the same company have the Villa and apartments, there is a fair distance to the apartment from the Villa, especially at night when it could be as cold as -25. I know you Irish are somewhat resilient to the cold, but this can be a different type of cold if the wind is blowing and there is a snow storm.

Im looking at having our wedding reception at the grand hotel Stamary in Zakopane, anyone know what its like or have some good alternatives to suggest. We are driving out the this summer to book the Hotel and Church so need to get organised!!

Hi

I'm from Donegal and have just spent a week touring the restaurants of Zakopane as I'm interested in food. This involved seeing most of the best hotels. I can tell you the result of my search - the best hotel for food by FAR Hotel Bukowina in Bukowina Tatrzanska - just outside Zakopane. Amazing views, has unbelievable spa next door. Staff speak great English. Hotel only opened in December - but the food was fabulous - I'd give it a Michelin Star, and yet only same price as pub food in Ireland. Rooms not the cheapest, but look good.

Otherwise there are three other notable hotels:

Crocus
Koneser
Nosalowy Dwor

Or if you want a nice, smaller (can feed up to 100) stylish log-cabin restaurant I can thoroughly recommend Ziebowka in Witow. My partner has just got a job there and it is truly lovely (and a better price than the big hotels). Hope that helps
