Krakow or Warsaw for a 25yr old?

Hey everyone, I am of Polish ancestry and I am taking a short trip to Poland around Easter. I haven't been to Poland yet and unfortunately stopped speaking the language after all of my relatives passed away. I can't decided which would be a better place to visit, Krakow or Warsaw? Although I am going for the history, let's face it, I am young and want to go to the city with the best nightlife also. Please help me out! Thanks a lot!

Krakow has more history, and a great night life.
Warszawa has less history and even more night life.
Both cities are worth visiting. You decide.

Oh my! I am only going for a week. But night life is night life. I suppose I can spend a few days in both places! Thank you! It looks like this is going to be a tougher decision than I though!

There is a regular intercity train service between Wars and Krk so getting from one to the other could even be done in a day 2hrs 50 mins each way.

There have recently been protests on the Krakow/Warsaw road, stopping traffic, because they are not building the Krakow/Warsaw motorway any time soon.
(Am I the only one that find's that slightly ironic?)

It's a pity they're not building it, as Krakow is likely to lose out on not having a good motorway connection to Warsaw but as we all probably realise, it has little to do with north to south and everything to do with east to West.

Poland is a transit country from East to West, with all the improvements of motorways being done now (thanks to the E.U.) it will greatly benefit Poland but what is not a priority right now is from Warsaw to Krakow but instead from Ukraine to Germany.

Take a look at this site for 2015, one and a half international motorways from East to West and half of one from North to South, it's just about priorities and I think it's the right thing to do.

I would guess the focus is connecting Gdansk,Poznan,Warsaw and Wroclaw as these are the host cities for Euro 2012. It looks like Krk- Wars will have to wait. If you have ever taken the 6.20 am intercity train out of Krk to Wars it is standing room only with commuters.

You'll be landing in Warsaw so check it out first. The Royal Route and Old Town are beautiful. Check out the Royal Castle. Warsaw is the perfect mix. Has the best night life.

Krakow is more compact,you will see the places you want to go that night as you wander around in the day in the old town.
But both have equal merit,I like both and I first went to them in my mid 20s.

This may be a late reply, but I highly recommend Krakow. If you have the extra time, try going to Zakopane for a day, or even two! IMO, Krakow and Zakopane/Tatra mountains are the best tourist destinations in Poland. Warsaw is so so. It has a very beautiful old town, and parks, but thats it. You want a good nightlife experience, and Krakow is the right place in Poland to experience that :)

Krakow and Zakopane, along with Warsaws old town, are the only things you should really be visiting. The other parts of Poland don't really have any tourist attractions, and you would probably find it boring. Hope you have a good trip!
