There are only 4 active mosques in Poland, three in traditional architecture in Bohoniki, Kruszyniany and Gdańsk, and one located in a villa in Warsaw.

there are simply not enough muslims who would go the Mosque in Krakow to built one, and what's more who would pay for the construction etc ?

There must be plenty of students plus perhaps a consular presence.

I live near the mosque in Warsaw and it seems quite busy.

As for paying, I think there are often contributions from abroad, charitable foundations etc.

Jonni,

Could you tell me a little bit more about yourself? Do you live in Warsaw? Are you a foreign student, or a native pole? I know someone that is a UK student in Warsaw. Could you tell me where the mosque is located, in terms of street name, as my friend is on th way to that mosque this very minute! L

I would really appreciate it, as it would give me a visual perspective on where and how my friend is living these days.

Thank you

Warszawa

Hi!

I live in Warsaw and I'm neither a foreign student nor a Pole.

The mosque is in Sadyba, on ul. Wiertnicza, quite near where I was living when I wrote the post. I used to see the people going ther on Friday.

Here are three links to photos I found on the web: wilanow mosque

I hope that's useful :-)

The Polish police would have a thing or two to say about mosques popping up. I'm sorry to say it but I could easily foresee riots and mass protests. When you start off down a road, it gathers a momentum of its own and Poland doesn't want a Balkan-type situation on their doorstep.

I am a little PC on occasion but I was appalled to see how some Serbian families in Kosovo were treated when they welcomed Albanians in. Sorry, Hamburg is the place for mosques, not here.

Because some people have done wrong, shall we blame the whole community for it?

Seanus... is it the right way forward. You are an educated person, to what detail shall I explain you?

Why dont you visit the off topics section and read a thread there and tell me what you think about it? I would be interested to know.

I don't think if anyone buid a mosque they won't make it without an official permission.

There is not much muslims in Poland. So I guess there are few mosques and it will stay like this. But to be honest I couldn't understand your perspective here.

As I said above, if there are even a small society what is wrong to have a mosque in a city. I am sure there are requirements in polish law to build one. And more can be built if the authorities think this requirements are met.

Mephias, I was trying to see it from the Polish perspective. In relative terms, they aren't the most tolerant in a religious sense. Avoidance is often the best option. I wouldn't want to see the day where any desecration took place and I believe that it would if more and more mosques started popping up.

Islam doesn't need more enemies based on misunderstandings. In principle, I have nothing against Muslims having options for prayer, that should be clear. I just fear that it would be a step for the worse in a relationships sense.

Polish eyes here: No I dont see any reason for animosity or hatred. Poles would welcome...those who cant must learn to be more tolerant and respectful to fellow human beings.

That's because you are you, £ódz. You don't speak for the majority of your people though I like what you have to say. Some would welcome but most wouldn't.

From the picturesque perspective, some mosques would be nice. I took many photos of mosques in the Balkans and they looked a damn sight better than some of the crumbling buildings here in Gliwice.

Kraków is generally beautiful but, as Pawian showed, there are many ugly parts too that could use a mosque ;) ;)

I understood your point. But there is no sign that new mosques are popping up (I think it is not necessary too since there is not too much muslim people).

And in this thread guy is asking if anyone knows any existing mosque (I assume he has no intention to build a new one) and got the answer.

I understand your concern but it looked a little bit overreaction to me. Especially when we think about the general approach in the forum.

Why would there be requirements in a majority Catholic country to build mosques?

I understand where Sheep is coming from, Poland only has to look at Britain and other countries in mainland Europe to see what has happened...If you built it they will come :D The less accommodating a country is (like muslim countries are) the less likely you are to attract people of a certain religion.

Only 0.5 percent of Turkeys populatin is Roman Catholic and this is what happens to priests in Turkey:

You do know that Pope Benedict is against Turkey joining the EU too.

Because praying freely is a human right. And with requirements I mean there should be some prerequisites in the Polish Law to build one.

The less accommodating a country is

It is obvious you haven't been to Turkey.

It is a crime and I am very sad about it. I am sure no priest is ever murdered in Poland

You do know that Pope Benedict is against Turkey joining the EU too.

It can be, what is the relation of this info and locating a mosque in Poland.

Who is this Pope Benedict? Where does he get his stupid authority from? The Bible (4 Books and the Book of Revelation - the most reliable/relevant when it comes to Christian doctrines) says nothing about these mushroom like growth of corruption (called Popes)...given birth by Roman Catholicism, in the name of Christ. Christ did say, didnt he...about these people who will USE the name of Christ so dispassionately...so hideously.

I am not in favor or against Mosques in particular. But I am in favour of the rights of peaceful people. I am in favor of humans and their right on this planet.

Good point. I support if swiss people feel like this There shouldn't be more minarets. It's quite normal if majority is not happy about it, not permitting it Also in Poland.

My reaction is about thread starter here is only asking if there is any mosques and he want to get the address of it(he is not asking to build a new one or he is not complaining about the lack of the mosques). Reacting this in a negative way is strange in my opinion.

They should establish Catholic law in Krakow before they get too many muslims over there who want to establish sharia law.

bulldoze the mosques.
