Off to Poznan in July - what the beer prices are like?

Me and a few of my mates are off to Poznan for a weekend in July. Have booked a tour around the Lech brewery and am wondering what the beer prices are like. Also what are the best pubs/clubs are.

As to the price of beer in Poznan, I am not sure but here in Puławy it is 4zl per 'pint' GB around £1.

The best person to answer this is delphiandomine as he lives there.

From memory, Poznan is between 6zl and 8zl in most places and 10zl in the expensive places.

When did the pound go as low as 4zl? Last time I looked it was about 5zl to £1.

Exchange I got was 4.2 to the £.

This was with the Post Office in Uk. Wondering if I'd get a better exchange rate in Poland itself?

Yes, most certainly. My regular exchange office is currently offering 4.47zl for each pound you bring them.

Don't keep up with exchange rates as I just hand it over because I am so rich - but being serous I did say around £1. :)

10zl for a beer would be alot cheaper than it is back home :)

Beer is between 7zl and 9zl in most places.

As you are coming in the Summer your best bet is find the main square where there are loads of pubs with gardens, most of them are good for sitting outside. Two pubs you should visit are Dragon it is on Ul. Zamkowa 5 and Meskalina on Stary Rynek 6. With the two I have mentioned you are better off heading there later (around midnight)

I'd be rich too if I was only paying 4zl for each beer! Couple of weeks back I went to a Warsaw pub which shall not be named and had two pints of cider, a pint of ale and a pack of porky scratchings: the bill was 74zl!

Hey, Im going to Poznan as well. This is a completely different question though. I am leaving on Sunday and Im desperate not to miss the Klitschko vs. Haye fight on July 2nd.

Ant clue if this fight will be shown anywhere in Poznan? Boxing seems to be a reasonably big sport in Poland.

@ Harry the place you call the k-hole is a bit crap now not so popular I don't remember the address though

@ Maxim this place will show the boxing for sure http://www.inyourpocket.com/poland/poznan/bars-pubs-clubs/barspubs/Kri ek-Belgian-Pub-and-Cafe_56244v you should phone and reserve a table in advance though as it is small and gets busy the owner speaks English so you shouldn't have any problems. I will be watching the fight in there myself.

Why don't you buy at a shop? It is PLN 3.50 per half liter ;-)

Not the stuff I buy! My regular tipple is a very enjoyable 2.19zl at Carefour.

Yes, I was just joking you had to be a rich man only having the beer out ;-) On the other hand, I pay 6 zloty at Gniazdo Piratów, so it really depends where you drink in Warsaw.

For the good stuff in a monopolowy, yes. But much less in Biedronka or Tesco. Between 7 and 10 in the pubs.

Others answered better than me ;)

Anyway, the cheapest at the minute is 4.50zl, but not in any pub that he will come across. 5-6zl in many places off-Rynek, going right up to 13zl in a hotel bar (but who drinks there?). For a tourist, I'd say to budget between 6-9zl for a beer.
