Why do you want more tourists in Poland? They have already trampled down some Polish mountains, especially Tatras. Millions of tourists appear there every year. The worst situation is in the summer when relaxing in outdoors resembles shop queues in PRL. When you finally reach your selected attraction, you can only enjoy it for just few moments before being forced to give your spot away to others, so as not to disrupt traffic. On occasion, other mountains do not fare much better than Tatras.

Poland needs better tourists, better tourist management, better tourist information, better advertisement of less popular regions to disperse the crowds, better facilities.

True. The north-eastern lakes are ludicrously under-developed. While this suits some, who like it as it is, there is a lot of potential in places like this to develop serious tourism money. There are beautiful lakes that would be surrounded by hotels if they were in country with a more developed tourism infrastructure. OK, some might say that they wouldn't be as beautiful if they were surrounded by hotels, but tastefully and sensitively done, they might be even more attractive. God knows, the region needs the jobs that would follow.

I think Poland should use the potential with nature and history to develop a better tourism. In my opinion there are some cities that worth to visit as Krakow or Gdansk between other where we can see old architecture and also places with a big historical background. Anyway everything has to work with a good information system that in my opinion is not well developed as in other countries in Europe that have more experience in receiving big amounts of tourist people. Sometimes people wants just to rest so to use nature places in from a lake or in the middle of a forest as a spa/resting season is good. Also about what is possible in Poland, don't know if other activities like hunting, hiking (in forest) or sailing, windsurfing (in sea) -just saying- are attractive for people who cant do them in own countries? maybe they could be extra alternatives. The country worth to be visited during summer as during winter - even if the weather and temperature can be a recurrent problem. I liked llamas "agroturystyczna" :D as they are from my country and i have seen them in many trips i did in past. These animals can manage well the cold weather, and the wool is very good but not much good or expensive as "vicuñas".

Yea just what we all need, more vomiting confused tourists, higher prices, more traffic/crowds. Just look how tourism basically obliterated the major Polish seaside destinations, Zakopane is a world class joke in the summer, and Krakow has turned into another culturally commercialized weekend destination overrun by tour buses.

By funding only those tourist attractions that give Poland an international reputation as a dour, miserable place to live, it keeps the fanny-pack socks-and-sandals tourists away, so that the rest of us can enjoy this beautiful country in peace :D

none.

it's individual cities that attract tourists. some cities get it right, places like wroclaw don't.

the reason wroclaw doesn't get it right is because they have a team of people whose job it is is to visit other countries and report back.

stems back to the days when wroclaw twinned itself to half the planet... free trips and no action.

no tourist shops/markets in this city, not enough hotels, crap marketing of the city, out of date information and God knows what else.

it will take an outsider to do the job properly. or locals who already know what tourists want.

i seem to remember the tv adds for lodz (shown on the bbc and cnn) a couple of years ago being ok though.

If someone doesn`t want to visit such places there is no pressure . But for some people it is worth to go there .

But I think Poland needs more advertising in CNN , British and USA media showing nice and interesting places .

For example - Poland can attract older tourists, who can be invited to umerous polish spas ( Poland is very popular in this section of tourism in Germany ) or make more popular some regions like Mazury, which is really excellent for tourists who like nature and is praised especially by those who like yachting or boating .

Cheers seanus. I think people have lost sight of what it means to visit a foreign country. It's more than just luxurious spas, that, quite frankly, are all probably very similar to one another. It's about connecting with people and feeling like you're some place unique, not just a place where they speak english with a funny accent and the McDonald's menu is hard to read.

I admit that English should be more commonly used in Poland , in some areas it is hard to communicate with Polish people , older people don`t speak English at all . In general the foreign language abilities should be imroved to attract more tourists .

Its simple. More advertising. I think we will see ads of Poland and its cities on TV when EURO 2012 is close. It needs tourists and popularity. When I was in krakow, I didn't see many foreign tourists or hear any foreign languages. Many "popular" places in Poland are only popular to Polish people and nobody else. Example being Sopot and Zamosc. Very few people outside Poland know about those places, its only popular with Poles.

I don't know about you guys but I really enjoy it when no one can speak English (or very very little) and I have to look stuff up in a dictionary and make my way through the confusion of a foreign language. This is why Italy is awesome: )

Absolutely, the Polish Tourism agency is not doing proper work in promoting Poland 's many jewel cities, natural sites, food etc.
Their marketing of Poland is poor and they should hire professionals for their media communication.

I am wondering if they even have a branch in Japan...
