How safe is Krakow for a single girl ?

Impossible to answer as there's about 755,546 people in Krakow at any given time and about half of them are girls...

Yes, you should expect rape and/or mugging any time, 24/7 actually;]

How serious are you by asking this?
Krakow is no different than any other average city. It is safe. Just apply normal safety measures i.e. locking your door and avoiding fishy backstreets during night. If it helps you, carry some mace/pepper spray in your bag. I really don't know how else to answer that.

C'mon way too high-tech for Krakow, completely disjointed from the city's medieval charm. You should be carrying a proper chain mace with spikes.

It's really unsafe. You have to watch your every step. Around the square sometimes there could be people!!!! The pigeons are famous for head butting single girls. At night the local mafia patrol the streets hunting for single women to throw them into their brothel houses!!! On trams they will use gas to intoxicate the single girls, they will then bag them (and not in the t-bagging way) and keep them stored in dumper buckets!!

She should just watch out for spiked drinks. I live in a different city and I walk alone at nights. Nothing bad happened to me yet but I can't guarantee you the same.

just avoid the Stag parties and act like you would in any european city that you dont know intimatley.
Only get in well marked taxis either at the ranks or ordered from your hotel that sort of basic stuff really.
Of course,I havent been for 4 years so it may well now be over run with Moscow people traffickers and lesbian vampyres,but,well,I doubt it ;)

The larger cities (like Krakow) are generally safer, it's those smaller cities and villages where just about everyone knows each other they start with outsiders. But you're a girl you'll be fine.

Hmmm, another female with a 'victim mentality'. It's a shame that our societies constantly reinforce this and it's an equal shame that so many people buy into it.

All polish cities are very safe.In Berlin I was almost shot,in Ukraine robbed,in Turkey given fraud money and in Denmark repeatedly mocked by the local asses but in Poland,Slovakia,CR nothing happened except some pushing over girls.(in Poland).Appearance plays a major role and understanding of local language.
It is interesting that Poles stare at you if you don't look like them.I took it as a sign of honor a privilege especially women stare rather a lot.

If you are white then any Polish city is safer than let's say... London, Birmingham, Manchester, Antwerp, Brussels, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Paris, Marseille, Malmö, Stockholm, Oslo, Johannesburg, New York, Detroit, etc.

I feel wayyyyy safer in Brixton, London, than I have done on one or two memorable occasions in small town (and city) Poland...(no offence meant to anyone except to obsessed Jarnowa) and BTW yes I am white..:)

Did you know last year there were 500 extra rapes in London? And that London has FOUR rape crisis centers?

I regularly check Polish news in English and i never read about rapes in Polish cities.

So who is more realistic, you or me?
