I have noticed this alot. Some taxis are so smelly that you can't just sit inside for 5 minutes specially older taxi drivers. Any body else has experienced this or is it only me? Thank you for your answers.

Is smoking allowed in taxis?

Smoking is not allowed in taxis. My observation: the cheaper taxi you order the more it smells. And conversely :-)

I am always taking MPT - no complaints there :).
But if only the drivers would not hang on their mirrors these "smelling christmas trees"...They actually give a weird kind of bathroom desinfectant smell :)

Just for chuckles; I stepped into a cab in downtown Chicago this past Wednesday night and the aroma of marijuana was almost overwhelming. I asked the cabbie where he was from and he said, "Nigeria". I then asked if I could light up a cigar and he just laughed.

So I did.

Because people throw up in them but the drivers are too cheap to have it cleaned properly.

When needing a taxi in Warsaw, call taxi 919, and ask that Andrzej Tomborek, be your driver, taksowka osobowa nr 260 Nubia, he also speaks English, and will give you the greatest care, and his taxi does not smell. Tell him, that, Michael from Valparaiso, Indiana, USA, gave you his name. You will be very happy with his service. He is a great guy, who cares.

It's true, the older the driver the smellier! The new taxis smell just fine but the old ones have problems.

Unlike many other cities in Poland, there is a price war on taxis in Warsaw, at 1.60 PLN per Klm, running a 10 year old car and getting 6-8 Klm per Liter of petrol/Diesel ( 5.20 PLN per Liter). The drivers are literally working for peanuts. If you don't want a smelly taxi there are plenty of firms, you pay a higher price for more luxury. Pick up your taxi outside one of the 5* hotels, I can guarantee the smell will be more fresh. At 1pm in the morning a taxi is a taxi- just get me home.

Next any of you need a taxi in Warsaw, try Andrew, and tell him, Mike from Valparaiso, Indiana told you of him. You will get the best service, and best driver, and cab around.

Why are some Taxis in Warsaw so smelly?
Reasons may include;

* The German soccer team rents the taxis for overnight sleep-overs.
* The singer Madonna holds sex orgies in the back seats.
* The seats are made of stinkweed.
* Feminists frequently drool in the taxis when thinking up new fictitious ways to bash men.
* Some 3rd world taxi drivers have not yet discovered soap (yes, this is definitely 'politically incorrect' to say).
* Martha Stewart cooks in the back seats of Polish cabs (she can't help herself)
