Thanks for the tips Guys.

Am in hte process of rounding up travelling companions. Glad to hear there isn't anti-biker attitude. Same can't be said for other places in Europe - some people have had really poor experiences after a long day riding.

We'll all know when the draw is made on 2 December what cities are hosting what teams - the Polish cities are Gdansk, Warsaw, Poznan and Wroclaw. a lot of chat here that there won't be enough rooms to go round for thousands of fans from all over, except in Warsaw - so the idea might be to stay in smaller town, like, a good distance away and bike in and out?

Have usually tried to stay away from motorways - in this part of the world anyway, I never thought it was fun doing hours on a motorway full of trucks, normally soaking wet, or maybe that's just in western Europe. The old Transalp has done very well on all sorts of back roads, but I think I'll be planning to keep to daylight, unless things go wrong.

I'll share whatever as plans develop.

Thanks Wildrover, appreciate it. - Will certainly get in touch with the club. I looked at the Gremuim site (pictures, sadly I can't understand the Polish). Looks really good. Look out for DMTC badges on your travels - Dublin Motorcycle Touring Club, and for connections if you're ever in this part of the world. You'll probably meet some if you are at the FIM Rally in Bydgoszcz in July next year.

I am considering a trip from The Harz in Germany to Poland on my BMW Cruiser and wonder about service/repair support if I happen to have an event. Your comments would be useful. rgds ken bishop.

BMW bikes are quite popular in Poland , and there are a few dealers about too....

In some areas you may not be able to get the parts off the shelf , but for sure somebody will get them the next day for you....

I wouldn,t worry too much about being stranded in Poland waiting for bits... You will be fine...

Any Intercars shop should be able to get the vast majority of BMW parts by the next morning.

Is motorcycle theft a problem in Poland? I am moving there in May 2012 and plan on getting a Ducati. It will be parked road side as I will live in an apartment.

Thoughts?

i've emailed the germium mc contact on their website and not gotten a response, anyone else able to get through?

Looks like I'm on a long term assignment to Wroclaw starting next year and all your help is appreciated.

my question: "is it possible to lease (long term), or rent (short term), motorcycles in Poland"?

my company will lease a car / housing but not motorcycle *sigh*

Thanks,
J

useful post #3.
please see my blog at www(dot)milesbeyondordinary(dot)blogspot(dot)com and for you adventure riders, i'm an inmate at ADVRIDER too.
I'm trying to feed my habit of motorcycling where-ever I am.
That's why I'm trying to sort this out before the big move.

By the way, wildrover, have you made the big move to Moscow?
J

VISITING POZNAN, can anyone suggest places to visit including good bars/clubs?  Do I need an invitation to enter Poland as a tourist?
