I have heard that in Moscow on Red Square they give cars away. Now seriously,

Bigger packages are easy to see people stealing.. smaller items arent.

they do it here, I know they do there.. because people do stupid crap.

like I said I dont draw attention to the package.. its plain or I just send a regular envelope.

and hope that Anyone who has sticky fingers here or there will get caught.

:)

One way they fight against thiefs in Russian airports is by tagging your luggage so when you pass through security, they check your number to make sure you got your own luggage.

Thiefs get arrested and it is taken seriously……………But unlike in Poland, who just let stealing go by, stealing mail in the US is a federal crime.

I suspect theft is not the culprit, most of the time people like you simply go postal and their lazy ass won’t be bothered anymore. Laziness Tygrys, laziness!! (Wam po prostu zwisa) if you know what I mean, alluding to the story below. Let's face it, for some strange reason this job is a magnet to some of the strangest characters out there and deranged individuals, especially in the States. Case in point, Whitefish Bay last year where a mailman delivered his mail in the buff. After a formal complaint filed by a woman, the man was arrested but the DA felt the evidence wouldn’t stand up in court and the case would not lead to a stiff enough sentence. Unlike my previous remark no pun intended here, he even kept his job. That speaks volume as to how seriously the USPS management takes any sort of complaint into consideration. Dismissed for the lack of evidence is the order of the day, no one guilty no crime committed. Perhaps my package might still arrive in 90 years or so, strange things do happen, infect that did happen on several occasions in USPS which made a national headlines. I just hope that someone is kind enough to forward my package after all that time. I might even make a descent profit with the cigarette costs rising as they do. Who the fvck knows, strange things do happen indeed.

Maybe it would get delivered if you would write the address properly. Many Poles write "1" like an upside down "V", the 7 has a cross through it and mail gets rejected and into the lost bin it goes. Sorting is done by machines and once it gets rejected because of an unreadable address, it takes a while before hand inspection gets to it, if they ever can figure it out.
Out of millions pieces of mail traveling through the system daily, the few complaints received, because of human or machines error, is taken seriously. Unlike in Poland.
When you hear about going postal, it's because many employees are retired from the military who have issues before they were hired.

So is my labeling of envelops and so do the native Indians on the reservation that sent my stuff, perhaps it's time for you to get a new pair of prescription glasses and a new cartridge for your printer so you won't have to label yours by hand anymore, than again no one ever accused a Postal employe of being smart or keeping up with times.

Believe it or not but other countries military personnel also goes on retirement and into civilian jobs. Yet this **** happens only in America. Try again.

You try again. Never said other countries and other jobs don't hire ex-militaries. Duh.

Tygrys, you’re way off topic now so let’s get back to the subject matter at hand shall we? Did you find my package yet? You Yankee Thief's. Yes Patrycja19, it has been a couple of years now, enough time for this matter to be resolved yet no sign of my package, no one got caught, perhaps you guys are just slow or all is not as rosy as you think. This is not a hearsay either, this is a fact based on my own experience.

I've heard about this happening in Toronto, I think there was a crackdown there a few years ago and it turned out mostly to be black immigrants from central america and caribbean countries.

What's a traveller to do? Is it legal to lock ones suitcase? What's stopping them from cutting the lock?

Merged: Tourists, be aware of Polish Airport!!!!They are stealing from the luggages!!!Big Time!!!

My mother was returning from vacation in Tampa Florida, and her bag was opened and stuff was stolen. Be careful whoever wants to fly to Poland, put locks or buy insurance, make sure your luggage is secured with locking devices.
Bad security on the airports, in Poland, Krakow.

If you don't have locked luggage or insurance then you have only yourself to blame. Security at Polish airports is no worse than in many other countries.

Funny how it's always trolling guests who complain about Polish airports/airlines etc. I don't have much reason to complain (well, not since the Etiuda terminal closed anyway, haha).

I was always told locks mean nothing to baggage handler thieves - and thieving goes on in airports all over the world. Thankfully never happened to me - yet. In the UK, your luggage goes through a sophisticated automated system of conveyors and channels at high speed, with barcodes on the label reading your destination. There is CCTV covering the areas. It is highly automated for the most part, your luggage whizzes past at considerable speeds. Where the thefts occur I don't know, but having been in and out of Poland and the UK dozens of times I have not as yet been a victim. Airlines do advise people to not put any valuables or breakables into checked-in bags anyway!

Airports employees will ask you not to lock your suitcases in case of a search they would need to perform if nescessary. A report from this search should be find inside of a suitcase.

Not that I am condoning any thievery, but one story that happened to two Canadian girls I once knew took place in Italy, not in Poland. They have dreamt about a trip of their lives - they have never been abroad, they were so much excited to visit places taught about at school. They landed in Milano, recovered the suitcases from the carousel, put them down, look around for some information, and the suitcases were gone in a second. With all their beautiful dresses bought just for that voyage.

I travel with a rucksack most of the time and I tie and lock the straps up in the same way every time and pack in a certain way. There's been many a time I have got the rucksack off the carousel and I know someone has been inside it because it's been tied up in a much different way than I do it and things have been disturbed inside but I've never found a report of a search once. I always carry any valuables in my hand luggage which I never put down as I know how quick these sneak thieves can be.

Had my mobile stolen at Gdansk airport security...

I had two with me , the one they stole was a broken phone that i kept just to charge up a spare battery...bad luck people...

I will keep a closer eye on my stuff in future...

What they did was insist i took my boots off , because the metal dectector bleeped at my metal shoelace ends , while i was doing that , they went through my rucksack and stole the phone...

It wasn`t your shoelaces` ends, it was that old rusty nail in your brain!!!

It is high time you had it removed.

This is the key, I think.

Mine's pretty cr*p too. I've flown about 80 times in the last 5 years (including many times to Poland), and I've never had anything stolen (yet).

Royal Mail, on the other hand... lol

You should think about filing a complaint with the police.

Not worth the trouble....

The only thing stolen was a mobile that did not work...

It would have been impossible to prove anyone stole it...

All i know is...it was in my rucksack before going through the check ...and not afterwards...

You definitely see things. :):):):)

Simply speaking, I don`t believe the theft happened. Risking one`s position or even a lawsuit to steal some lousy phone? Come on...

You just lost it, when you had gone on a binge. :):):):)

That`s all.
