Hi everyone,

I'm writing an article about things to do when the weather is rubbish in Gdansk and I need inspiration.

So far I've only got as far as the climbing wall at the climbing wall at the Alfa Centre in Przymorze!

So come on and inspire me! The whackier the better!

How can I entertain myself when it rains in Gdansk?!

How about this? By singing the song "I´m singin´ in the rain
Just singin´ in the rain," from Frank Snatra.

Getting bladdered in the pub is weather independent really. :-)

Actually, it was Gene Kelly

When I was planning my trip, I found a suggestion on TripAdvisor for rainy days. Here it is:

"If you find yourself looking for some thing to do on a rainy day, Baltyca shopping centre is a good choice. It's a 20zl taxi ride from the centre of Gdansk. It has over 300 types of outlets and some nice restaurants. Bring plenty of money"!

Here's the link:

On rainy days you can find me in Absinthe. Come to think of it, on nice days you can find me in Absinthe. Hmmmmm.

Seriously though, I often go for walks in the rain. Old Town is still beautiful and the streets aren't crowded.

Galeria Baltycka's not my glass of beer, but there are plenty of museums in Gdansk. Check out the Solidarity Museum if you're interested in history, or the History of Gdansk Museum in the Town Hall on Dluga when it reopens after renovation.

Drop by the Scandic hotel (used to be the Holiday Inn) across from the train station and pick up a free copy of Gdansk in your pocket. You'll get tons of ideas from this.

No rain on Friday, so no splashing babcias! More's the pity. I'm just kidding.

I didn't find you there on any of the days I was there during the two weekends last month that I was in Gdansk for!

Scottie,

For the first time in my life I was so disappointed to wake up to glorious sunshine this morning!

Damn it! :-)

well - you could always kidnap a babcia, take her to the forest and roll her in some leaves to see if they'll stick to her mohair beret.

Sadly you weren't. I even asked the bar staff on each of the four times I was there, surprisingly they all know you!

I'm not sure when I'll next be up there, certainly not this year and probably not until spring. Anyway, I thought you were moving to Warsaw?

Warsaw? Not likely. It would take a lot to blast me out of Gdansk. I love it here.

I think you missed me the weekend I went to Bydgoszcz. See you in the spring.

You're right. I was thinking that the other day - the last time it rained here was back in November I think. At least the hot orangey thing in the sky has come back.

No pub outings for me at the moment - I'm grounded.

I saw a snowdrop in Wrzeszcz last week ...

Totally off topic but I needed to share :)

p.s. where's the go-karting in Wrzeszcz?

A snowdrop or a drop of snow? :-)

From what I've seen, the go-karting is done on Grunwaldzka Street in life sized go-karts.

It's raining today, so I walked for an hour around the Old Town, then ducked into Absinthe for a beer. It's quiet on Sunday afternoon and the music is good, not loud. It's a good place to talk with friends or just think. Museums are always an option but I've seen them.
