woodster 16 Nov 2009 #1HiWe are going to poland in February and I want to know if we can get to Zakopane from Krakow airport, if so can anyone give me an idea of how to look for timetables and such.
Ajb 6 | 232 16 Nov 2009 #2You can check the train times in English here:rozklad-pkp.pl/?q=en/node/143I you get the bus from the airport to the main train station (Główny) and then you will be able to get the train from there.(I dont live in Krakow but have traveled from there)It takes about 3.5 hrsProbably there is a bus but i dont knowHave a good trip!
Lori 4 | 118 17 Nov 2009 #3Many advise taking a bus instead from Krakow to Zakopane. The buses run faster. You will find a bus station in the same area as the main train station in Krakow. Good luck.
lolozabojat - | 7 17 Nov 2009 #4That is right. From the airport, you may reach the bus station and the train station located nearby the bus station by outdor tramway or by mini bus.Tramway is the easiest way. Then, you may decide for bus or train or taxi. But maybe at this time if you are coming on winter holidays, roads can be very crowded so in that case the train would be better. But if not on holiday, bus would be better.Have you reserved accomodation yet?
mbelanger - | 5 2 Dec 2009 #5I took a bus to Krakow from Zakopane in early May,2008.It was slowed down by road construction (which is probably finished so the roads wil be much improved) and it was a nice trip. Only complaint: the bus driver was surly and didn't help put suitcases in the outer compartment as I was expecting(I'm female and 65). As a matter of fact I had to open the door and it was heavy! On the smaller minibuses they were more helpful though of course your luggage rides with you in the bus and at times you need to apologize for crowding other passengers who didn't seem to mind. I do not speak Polish but had phrases from a book which helped greatly! People were very helpful when asked" Proszę ,Pan/Panie." I was alone and had a great adventure--spent about 6 days in Krakov staying at the cheapest available single rooms I could get and had no BAD experiences there or in Zakopane. Trains can be hellish: loud ,stopping a lot ,not in the best condition or even dirty. People can be noisy but no smoking is allowed. I may have been on a crappy rail line coming from Prague to Krakow but back from Krakow to Warsaw was a bit more comfortable and people were very friendly. Everywhere young people speak good English(Thank God!) and were so kind and helpful! It is an amazing place and I only saw that small southern area. I plan to go back. By the way I found family! My grandparents left in the very early 1900's so I was overjoyed.

adasm - | 3 24 Jun 2013 #7This is good choice to get from Krakow Airport to Zakopane: krakowzakopanetransfer.
jon357 74 | 22,054 10 Jun 2016 #11Cheap enough not to worry about - in 2nd class it's less than £5 (25zl to be exact) and less than £10 in first class, not that many trains Krakow-Zakopane have that (but worth it for a bit of extra comfort during the holiday season when the trains can be busy).
terri 1 | 1,663 10 Jun 2016 #12I know the buses from Krakow to Zakopane are only 14 or 15 pln. Not that much really.
kpc21 1 | 763 10 Jun 2016 #13From Kraków to Zakopane it's better to take a bus - they are much faster, and they go really a few times in an hour.
