Tusk's visit to Moscow

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk recently returned from a trip to Moscow with two things on his agenda; the US missile shield and the Baltic Sea pipeline. Tusk left without being shot, which is good I suppose, but nothing really was accomplished. I like Tusk and I like his idea to thaw out Poland's relations with her eastern neighbor, but I don't want Poland to be bullied around either. What do you guys make of Tusk's uneventful trip? Is there a way to stand up to the Russians with out getting bombed back to the Partition Age?

Without the USA supporting do you really feel they would ever have a chance of getting the shield? I think we both know the answer.

Good news is that Tusk stuck to plans.

At a press conference after a meeting with the Russian President, Tusk said that Vladimir Putin is not an “enthusiast” of the deployment of the American anti-missile shield in Poland, but respects Poland’s freedom to decide about its own safety. The Polish PM ensured him that the shield would not be directed against Russia.

Yeah, like I said, I like Tusk. I am not clamoring to antagonize Russia. And as you said, I'm pleased Tusk stood to his guns. I'm disappointed that none of the issues were resolved. It takes time, I suppose.

From the comments after the visit I thought it (anti missile) was resolved, silly me.

European Parliament is in favor of establishing one common EU military. Will Poland stick to plans for "Anti missile shield" under new threats?
