Haha well it's good to know that! Thank you very much :) Now I know this number is not from the person who called me with it last sunday..

Well then... do you know how I can apologize in Polish and send a txt with: I thought this number belonged to someone else.

Thank you so far!

I'm 21 = Mam 21 lat
I come from ... - Jestem z ... (Holandii, Amstedamu, Rotterdamu, Utrechtu, Enschede, some city names will have the Dutch form, some will have a Polish ending, it depends on the name)

So do you want just to apologize for a misunderstanding or are you hitting on him?

it's written in my profile (click the "Member" on right), and I'm not revealing the exact town, it's small (nothing like Warsaw or Łódź), because it's rather irrelevant to what I do on this forum :)

Yes I also think it's a bit of an odd question ;) Actually I was surprised that Krzysztof, of all Dutch city's, brought up Enschede. That's exactly the town I live in ;)

so Ewilina (Polish) lives in the same (Dutch) town as Krzysztof (also Polish) ... i am sensing the intervention of FATE here ... you must meet up and fall madly in love and tell us all about it :p (poor old Krzysztof - he was just kindly responding to a translation enquiry, and suddenly we've got him married off to a 21-yr-old Polka!) (worse things have happened at sea ...)

wtf? LOL, what a mix up
1 - Ewilina seems to be not Polish,
2 - I live in Poland, not Holland (although many non Europeans mix those 2 countries, because the names sound similar)
3 - Enschede was just an example of a town that doesn't change its name in Polish (no declension, unlike the other three cities I listed), and I used it probably because of football, Twente Enschede seems to be doing well recently (didn't they qualify for next season's Champions League, beating Ajax in the play-offs?)

am now totally confused. no doubt as a result of being so crazily thick :p
Because of course Ewilina isn't Polish, since she was asking for a translation of 'ile masz lat?' !!!!! (unless of course she was being VERY disingenuous)
But Ewilina isn't English, whatever she is. EWILINA: where are you from??

And reading back, i see where the mention of the odd-sounding Dutch town came from .. ok .. all is clear ... as mud ; )

and in the light of all of that, i can see that my own post must have seem to be verging on the clinically insane!!! ok, ok ... it was late afternoon ... i had just breastfed my baby ... my brain was 'resting' ...

Same here..

And its not as difficult as you all made it! I was just surprised that he brought up Enschede. It sure is not one of the biggest Dutch towns.. The football-reason indeed does make sense :)

I'm sorry for all the mistakes o.0 Thanks everyone for your help with translating!

Edit: Oh and by the way.. I'm Dutch, and I still live in Holland (someone asked..)

(Is there anyone who would like to help me with another translation...?)

Well, I'm rather not good in idiomatic expressions in English, but if you need something translated to Polish, stanę na głowie i coś wymyślę :)
but not now, bed time, goodnight
