I said the same things but not in so many words. Poland's economy is weak, so the country has No barganing power.
I don't believe that Poland is such a victim, as it comes out of your reply.
Not exactly. You said that one of the reasons why Poland is so pro-American is because it is forced to it and also because Poles have some kind of an identity crisis. The only thing that we actually agree upon is that Poland isn't definitely a "first league player".
As for the victim part, no, we still aren't victims and let us keep it that way.

Poland has contributed to this weaknes itself as a nation and as a government. Although, I might be wrong. After the communism broke down - the nation got divided into several parts, mainly due to the fact that it's unity has been kept in check for 50 years in a superficial way and due to different interests - as it always happens in any society.
Poland only had 20 years time for economical, administratory, etc unification of three different parts of land, that were kept separated for almost 123 years. This process was violently interrupted by WWII which significantly affected Polish economy as well as Polish population. To top it all up we had over 40 years of socialism, where the term effectiveness basically didn't exist. It will take a lot of time to make things work as they suppose to. Could the Polish governments made better in the last 17 years? Probably they could. As the Italians say " After the ship has sunk, everyone knows how she might have been saved." But it certainly isn't the major cause of present Poland’s weakness.

As for EU - yes, everybody is looking after their own interests - hello. It's time to bite the bullet and see EU for what it is. Why would they be in it if they had not interest, not to have some tea and barszcz with Poles?
Never mix barszcz with tea.

Poland already bit this bullet. That's why we are having this conversation. Since all the major EU countries care about their own interest and are not willing to back their eastern members, Poland will care about it's own interest and look for allies outside EU. Simple.

EU is a better partner for Poland than the USA, but I think that Poland has some money to pay back (actually a lot) to both, so as sad as it is, it will take a while for Poland to have some power.
It certainly has an enormous potential, but... Yeah, unfortunately there is a "but". EU should once and for all state if it wants to be "a one body", or a group of countries connected between each other only by free market. If the answer will be the latter, than I don't think that EU has the right to influence polish foreign politicks. Simple.

Mateusz,
you are taking things too emotinally. Politics is money and interests and being emotional about it just shows that some of the Polish politicians are on a power trip.
That's a sign of weakness.
Yes I am emotional, but quite frankly I don't think that it affects my views. I find myself being a very reasonable fella.
PS: All this doesn't mean that I don't see the dangers that might come with an alliance with US of A, as well as that I am so naive to think that we will be their no1 "friend"/ally.
PPS: My name is Maciej and not Mateusz
