Britain... What the Poles did for us.

Oh god it is back and it is yet again making unintelligible noises.

:) yes, Paris, IT is back.

I would bet a huge sum of money that Poland will not extend the same respect and courtesy to tons of immigrants on Polish soil as they desire abroad.

As long as they are not going to ask for handouts, drain social security system or don't want to change the religious, political or social landscape of this country, and they respect our laws and pay taxes – it’ll be fine.

blind patriotism

Why it is when you say ‘patriot’ it always sounds like a dirty word?

Of course unlike If some guy selling choclate would leave Poland... That would be disaster...

Ir would actually have no effect on anyone but my wife and kid, and I never said it would. I dont actually sell chocolate grzegorz, I hire choc fountains for weddings etc which makes me quite a comfortable living, so much so I have been able to quit teaching. What do you do for a living G apart from being a homophobic racist?

Look at my site czekoladowyraj.com.pl and read it.

"Czekoladowa fontanna to wspaniałe urozmaicenie Twójego wesela"

In just first sentence ...he he he

I was right: it's embarrassing to be you :))

As i am assuming you know, Czekoladowy Raj means chocoalte paradise and if it is a stupid name pls look at all the other companies in Poland with stupid names:

Orlen sell petrol
Sowa sell cakes
we have a pancake restaurant in sopot called parasol
Biedronka (a supermarket)
Zabka (a chain of grocery stores)

to name but a few.

and yes, the text of my site is not great, but thats because it was written by a non native Polish speaker. Try writing perfectly in English.

Those two lines u have pointed out have not affected my sales at all, in fact this was my best summer ever in terms of my business. People like it when the Polish is not perfect, they like the fact that a foriegner has actually made the effort to learn their language.

What do u do for a living McCoy and bzib.... you prob earn very little so stop ur jealousy and do something about ur sad lil lives

I'm with welsh guy here. Although he doesn't like Poles too much, he's a taxpayer. And embarrassed should be native speakers who make mistakes in their own languages.

Although he doesn't like Poles too much

I never said that, in fact I have some very good Polish friends who concur with everything I say on here. But thanks bartoleme, finally someone can see what point im trying to make.

Not eable to stomach some teasing I see ...

Why on earth would you assume that I earn very little and have sad live? Because I’m Polish I must be automatically unsuccessful and miserable? Oh, that’s rich.

People like it when the Polish is not perfect, they like the fact that a foriegner has actually made the effort to learn their language.

Yes, we do appreciate the effort. Speaking the language with bad accent and mistakes is one thing but making spelling and grammatical mistakes on your web site makes you look silly and unprofessional

I'd like to see a Pole writing in Welsh. I wouldn't understand any of it, but I'd still like to see it.

You give him grief about spelling then you write "showinistic" But it was really cute and I smiled. I am not showinistic at all. I like nice women just fine. It is the nasty ones I have issue with :)

Oh lucky day for you then! But still: it's not my web site I'm on.

It is the nasty ones I have issue with :)

So having an opinion qualifies me as a nasty one automatically? Or one has to dare not agree with you to get the honor?

Bzibzioh, ur comments on the first page are hilarious. What support? The Poles were given our aircraft to use to defeat an enemy that was obliterating them. Poles do get support in the UK. Do u really think that the level of support for Brits is that high?

I don't know why language is brought here. Most of Polish immigrants left Poland with aim to earn some money and comeback ... Those who want integrate learn engilsh. I think somebody tries to bring issue if somebody is able to learn language.

How about Jews speaking Yiddish language

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yiddish_language

It it was some Jewish communities choice. Some Jews sopke only their own language and integrated only with their own people. Some communities were living in this way for centuries.

Are you going actually try to convince me that Polish soldiers in UK after WW2 were well taken care of? Not snubbed at all? Not send conveniently to Canada? And, no, British soldiers had no picnic either.

I don't enter into such debates Bzibzioh. I know they did a great job. I know that they were snubbed. I think I know what u meant now. It's just that support is such a broad term that operates on so many levels.

I think we are in agreement now :)

Let's update this discussion. The Poles gave us cracking delis. It allowed me to buy bigos and gołąbki so my Dad could try it. They give Brits a chance to try, first hand, what all the boasting is about. Especially bread.

For me, this counts.

defeat an enemy that was obliterating them.

To be fair, England would have been obliterated eventually, without any support from the Americans.
Respect for England to have held up against the Germans alone though, good stuff. Without some poor decisions made by the British and American high staff near the end of the war, all could have ended well for England, AND Poland.

Well, I'm also a xenopbobic sexist. Dude, I've got nothing against your chocolate but saying that Poles in the UK contribute nothing or don't integrate, you sound like a twat, especially that you are British living in Poland... what British are doing here ? Usually teach English or run some micro business. And usually even after years know maybe 10 Polish words. We wouldn't even notice If all of you disappeard, when If the same happened with Poles in the UK half of British companies would have very serious problem.

Could I try going to Poland to run a small gardening business whilst teaching the plants some English? Nobody would notice.
