What do you hate about England and English people?

Yes the topic is too to strong and someone will say I am not original but never mind.

First of all before I write what I don’t like here I must say that I am tolerant person and have friends from different countries different religions, cultures and races and yes there are more things I like here than dislike. That’s why Im still here :-)

I find that more and more people here are trying to be political correct.

The other day we had a staff meeting at work and one English colleague suggested that we should postpone Christmas party (which we organize every year) until the end of January so that everyone could attend and no one would feel offended! Why would you call it a Christmas party then?

Second example is from my friends experience
You cannot apply for some kind of jobs here if you are not "Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic" And I am not talking about some small crap businesses in the outskirts of London. I am talking about big government owned company. He is white. So what? You wont consider his application because of that? I find it racist. There are lots of people/politicians who think that racism can only be the other way round, How stupid is that?

I always thought that politicians and governments should act in the interest of majority of people (of course the rights of minorities should be protected but not in the way it could affect principle rights of the majority).

Our politicians are only interested in themselves and furthering their careers

I always wonder why their heads are so big.

Bad dog :(

Sugar in potato crisps. It's a peak of idiocy to add sugar to a savoury snack.

So if i understand right, Jacek, what you hate about English people (that is the topic) is that ONE of them wants an Xmas party to be organised in January and that some businesses here only hire people who are not white...? and that politicians are not interested in what people want, where Daisy and Lukasz pointed out that politicians are mostly self centered greedy pigs anyway. I reckon you should rename the topic of your thread to 'I feel like having a rant today' ;)

Hey AvJoeUK!!!!!!!!! The reason for the English having bad teeth, is, that the so called FREE National Health Service will not pay the dentists enough to even cover their costs. This in turn, means, that dentists will only treat private paying patients. To hide this fact, the UK goverment pays Polish dentists to fly to the UK to treat poor people. I have heard mentioned, the sum of 48,000 PLN being paid for a weeks work.

I'm allowed to post my dislikes of my country. In no particular order they are:

awful traffic congestion
The gradual erosion of any sense of responsibility by people
hosepipe bans when it's rained all winter
having TV stations called Dave and Ben
heathrow airport
manchester united
self serving and very dim politicians
train fares that make it cheaper to fly to New York than get the 9am train from London to Glasgow

Despite that I love it here. It's home.

Well, I realised that I should express my hatred and resentment in a thread called 'What do you hate about Scotland and Scottish people?'. But I guess some things are common for Scots and English, they live in a widely cherished and revered Union after all.

Check out my Welsh thread. I've picked on our Scottish friends enough already for the time being.

No mention of vinegar on chips?

I love vinegar on chips as well as vinegar crisps. The milk in tea is not bad, but not good as well. I hated those small sausages in my full english breakfast. Can we really call them sausages?

I hate english moaners... Before anybody says anything, I hate the polish ones as well.

Why can't I get Cheddar Cheese in Poland?

At Carrefour! Pay through my nose for it though!

It is an act of treason to place a postage stamp bearing the British monarch upside-down

Myth

In Liverpool, it is illegal for a woman to be topless except as a clerk in a tropical fish store

I believe and approve of that one.

Mince pies cannot be eaten on Christmas Day

Fallen out of use since the days of Ollie Cromwell.

In Scotland, if someone knocks on your door and requires the use of your toilet, you must let them enter

Have you seen how much they drink there?

A pregnant woman can legally relieve herself anywhere she wants, including in a policeman's helmet

I haven't seen this yet. Man-boobs and beer-bellies are not enough to fool even British police.

In the city of York it is legal to murder a Scotsman within the ancient city walls, but only if he is carrying a bow and arrow

You didn't mention the Welshman in Chester on a Sunday.

but i found this amusing...

These are amusing and there are loads more. If you have time you should pick a particular city and look into the "by-laws" there are some funny ones there too. :)

I hate the 'Its not my job' mentality.. usually involving call centres and long queues.

I also hate waitresses and sales assistants with no manners

(one gem of a waitress in Wigan actually pulled her ringing mobile out of her apron pocket while taking our order, had a quick chat, put her mobile back in her pocket, and continued taking our order... ignoring the fact we'd just heard her evening plans with her mate's boyfriend)

Stupid excuses on the tube.. including leaves on the line, sunshine in their eyes (they're on bloody tracks!), tracks too hot, tracks too cold, tracks covered in snow, staff shortages... lots and lots of excuses.

But mostly the UK isn't too bad... though a bit more deodorant on the tube especially in summer wouldn't go amiss.

Therefore - people will reply!

topless clerks in tropical fish stores... now thats an intersting one, and unlike the other ones it doesnt sound so out dated

but there would be some ridiculous reason why they should be topless - nothing interesting. BTW - the clerks were maybe male ;)

maybe when theyre topless theyre more prepared to rescue a client whos fallen in a fish tank and is drowning, without getting their t-shirt wet. hows that? ;)

BTW - the clerks were maybe male ;)

if they were male, and clerks in a tropical fish store AND had to be topless, there should be a law for them to be buff, too.

It could be that - or some other oddball reason :)

if they were male, and clerks in a tropical fish store AND had to be topless, there should be a law for them to be buff, too.

Hmm, you could have a point ;)

'HATE about the English' is going a bit strong don't you think?

It's only fair when there's so many English coming onto the site to post in the Hate Polish thread. Understandable almost.

And as Osiol's post would illustrate - there hasn't been much more than light-hearted banter in this thread so far.

Haven't you read about PD and JustysiaS and their shopping spree advice?
