UKTV Food, new series!

Hi all ,
Denham Productions has been commissioned to produce 20 part series for UKTV Food. The series charts the nationwide hunt for recipes.

Over the course of the 20 programmes, we’ll seek out the stories and recipes put forward by the public that best describe British home cooking today.

We’re looking for recipes with a strong narrative back story – a recipe handed down through generations, a classic recipe with a twist, an unusual regional speciality, a signature recipe created to celebrate a significant event or perhaps a recipe with real impact on someone’s life. Above all, the recipes must work and taste great.

The People’s Cookbook is an entertaining and wholly partisan romp through the story of contemporary food culture in the UK – a snapshot of modern-day Britain and its food. It is definitely not about being flash and showing off culinary prowess. It’s about what we really eat in our homes classic British dishes alongside other ethnically inspired dishes. It will tell the story of all our lives and our relationships with food – and each other.

Each programme will feature 6 beautifully crafted films which tell the story behind the recipe – filmed on location around the country. Two well known chefs will then go head to head in a studio, cooking 6 recipes in each programme (2 starters, 2 mains and 2 puddings) with a specially invited audience.

I'd be most grateful if you could email me any suggestions and contact details of people you think may be suitable & interested in taking part. Polish cuisine would be a wonderful addition to this series so please get in touch!

I look forward to hearing from you - steve.chapman@denhams.tv

Hmm, i'll try this again, seeing as it got deleted the first time around.

Hi Tele. Hope you're ok. For the mods, you have to put this in, otherwise, they get grumpy, so bear with me, gentle reader. As I do't live back home in the uk anymore, I have a question, which, whilst not necessarily, directly on topic, is to do with the actual theme of the thread, and as such is not causing any direct hi-jacking. However, if you please, I can wave a hand grenade around and demand we fly to Rio whilst asking my question.

Phew, still with me T? Hope so, we're almost there. Ahh the point:
Is the large woman, with her mesmorising chest, still presenting UKTV Food?

Ahh, cheers Annia. We must stop meeting like this, people will talk! She was about the only reason I ever watched an otherwise average show. It would be rather amsuing watching her trying to pronounce some names of polish food, she seemed to struggle with Gino D'Acampo. (Though, thinking about it, I don't think she'd have put up much resistance.)

It's working. And we have the mesmorising chest woman to thank. What is her name. Jenny Vanilla slice or something?

This was on recently, with a recipe for Barszcz.

The series is being repeated at various times/days of the week, so you should be able to see it again very soon!

Perhaps we should buy her a hat?

I do think she'd be ever so scary in the flesh, but she does seem to talk with her, well, assets.
See it's times like this that Austria just cant compete.

Another note to Admin. We're not chatting, promise.
