Ulkowski surname

I am interested in finding any information on the Ulkowski family who once lived in Czarne, Bydgoszcz, Poland. My grandfather Ignatz and his two sister, Michalina and Petronela came to the United States in the early 1900s. I am not sure if they were born there or elsewhere. My grandfather did mention Lodz, but I don't know if that is his birthp;ace. Also, on one of the manifests, it states that a sister was born in Olsiany, Russia. I haven't been able to find any name resembling that. I know that Russia ruled Poland at the time they were living there so I am assuming the town would be in Poland. Any help would be appreciated.
