I understand poles coming to uk

As much as ive made some rants about poles coming to uk ,i can see whay they would want to leave , I went last year and it was actually quite a depressing place and the people seem to have no hope except for getting out of Poland ,
If you moan about the British weather then you really must be in Poland during the winter as it is Ghastly .
The one thing that really struck me was the amount of litter everywhere and the bad roads , People never seem to smile and the architecture is nothing compared to what you would see in eg London,
I have been to ukraine as well and the thing that really strikes me as well is the fact that they seem behind in fashion as well (it was like going back to uk in the 80s)
And the food was ghastly
On a good side Krakow did seem quite good.
If i was in poland i would be the 1st to go .The one thing that bothers me the most about poles coming to uk is that they dont seem to make an effort to intergrate and speak our language ,
I believe that anyone who goes to another country must intergrate and adjust to its cultures etc
If i moved to anywhere i would learn the language

The bad roads....couldn't agree more. As for the litter; I dlon't know where you've been, but Poland is very clean. If you look at pictures from different cities you'll notice that there isn't much garbage. I've been all over Poland and had to comment on this because I've been to much dirtier cities. Ever been to NYC?

Where did you go? This also proves that you know absolutely nothing about PL. Strange how most of the PL kastles have been preserves and rebuilt, but in GB they're all rubble. So tell me, what cities have you visited to get this rediculous impression? Just Krakow?LOL

I love polish food i mean british food is fattening wat exactly is English food other tahn chocolate...

I'm sure that the british also have some tasty dishes, but to say that about PL food is just rediculous.

I visited Poland about 2 months ago. Had Bigos and Pierogi for the first time and loved them both. Thought the streets were incredibly tidy.

Saw Warsaw's Palace of Culture, Nowy Swiat, and the Castle there. All really nice architecture.

We have some nice architecture here in the UK too, but it's all swings and roundabouts really in the grand scheme of things.

I'm beginning to find the Poland-bashing with little or no evidence to backup said statements increasingly tiresome. As I'm sure are many of us. *yawn*

british is the last nation that can slag Poland off for its current situation, look and poverty. It was Britain that sold Poland after II WW to Russia, it is your blood that is guilty for my parents and grandparents pish poor life during Russia occupation. You are responsible for Polands current poverty. Now inviting Poles to your country you can pay off at least 1% of your nations guilt. But your betrayal will not be forgotten.

Warsaw was twice heavily damaged then, the second time being in the 1944, because of the uprising of its inhabitants and the underground polish army. At the beginning Poles had only ammunition for about 2-3 days of fighting, and only about 2000 of them had actually a side arm, but still they managed to defend for 62 days. The resistance of Polish people made Hitler so mad that he ordered to wipe out Warsaw form the surface of the earth. In result 80% of the buildings were destroyed, and 18 000 soldiers, and about 150 000 civilians were killed on the Polish side. Germans also had some serious losses, of 26 000 soldiers killed and injured. During all this time Soviet forces were standing near the city, only observing and waiting for the uprising to fall.

So as you see, about 60 years ago Warsaw was a big pile of dust, human ash and dead corpses, but its greatness is being slowly rebuild, and I really like it that you appreciate the results.

Right Frank but British should not forget slagging off Poland that they are partly responsible for this what happened with Poland and now immigration into their country by polish ppl that want better life its also their fault too.

ola123 I think that you are being to harsh with the English right now. I wouldn't accuse the whole nation of the actions of one man. There were a lot of MP's in the UK Parliament that really stood for Poland and it's fate. And I wouldn’t say that Poland was betrayed. I would rather use the word deceived.

Actually according to my father Russia helped us the most during WW2 - driving Germany forces out our land, their occupation after the war was another story though. But still all in all Russia captivity was better that the German one. My point is Frank that Poland helped you during WW2 but when we were waiting for your help you left us alone giving us to Russia and the result was 50 years of occupatin - now you can see current Poland after this. This occupation could be avoided thanks to Britain but they let us down. I dont like going into past but I require at least respect from Britain.

I think its much more complex than that Ola, forgive me for having a "history book" only perspective, but Germany and Russia met secretly to carve Poland up for themselves, then the Germans shafted the Russians.

Russians "helped" you clear your land from Germans, only because they could then "rubbish" your country for a second time( again correct me , but the Russians had a dislike of Polish people nearly as much as the Germans!!!).....feel free Polish people to join in and balance this discussion!!

You have to look at the MAIN culprits here..........point any finger you want at the other countries above!

PS I am Irish....two of my uncles joined voluntarily to fight on the side of the British during the war......they didn't have to...they had NO responsiblities to UK, France, USA Poland, etc.............but they tried to do what was right!

Clearly that's not true because otherwise where in the world would they work if they did not know how to speak the language maybe between each other they speak Polish so no one understand them but that's their business and you should have no business in that... and you are rude about what you said Poland is no dump.... et tu es une idiot....
