Okay, so we all now that learning a new language is challenging and it can be confusing, however I'm tired of people on this forum trying to correct people when they aren't right. Really I'm so glad that all of these people show a sincere interest in learning something new and different, but please don't act like you know something if you don't. If you don't know it say you don't know it and learn from your mistakes.

The trouble is that on this forum, it all depends on who you are. The poles are very crafty in this respect. I see bad Polish written such as oczów and if I had written it everyone would be on to me right away. If, on the other hand, a Pole writes it then its all right. I have just looked up in the thirteenth century annuals and there is a good example of this very thing...and on they go. They simply lie.

ócz is archaic. Ozów does not and never did even exist.

This is a part of the lingustic correctness in the Polish language as it was taught in Poland's secondary schools in early 1980's;

Linguistic correctness is decided based various aspects of the word's usage. One of them is frequency. If that frequency is in accord with other aspects of the lingustic correctness then (while not certainly mainstream sanctioned by the academia) the word is considerred correct, or acceptable in common use.

The form "oczow":

- is frequent.
- follows other grammatically similar patterns
- it has a strong historic base

Bottom line, "oczow" is acceptable in common/daily use.

Bottom line-you are wrong, wrong, wrong. There is no such word as oczów and never has been either. bardzo mi przykro is also incorrect and gips u nogi is hilarious.

At the Polish classes, our teacher (a Polish lady with a PhD degree in Slavic languages from some Polish university) taught us another example :

- Miło mi

BUT

- Bardzo mi miło

yes, as you see 'bardzo' reverses the order in the sentnce. i did mention it in another thread. do NOT listen to michal.

I am just saying I don't think it's a very common word

i have seen it in writing or heard Polish people say it. it is correct, or at least it used to be. i still say oczu anyway.

And I think that is what most Poles use

If you now try to say "oczów" you will be corrected. It's not used for a long time, and you better don't do it ;)

"Bardzo mi przykro" is correct and very common. For example: "Naprawdę? Bardzo mi przykro, nie wiedziałem..."

which means it's very nice to meet you, madam. if you wanna adress it to a man, you say bardzo mi miło pana poznać. but just bardzo mi miło is perfectly fine.

Oczów is bad Polish grammar but u may hear it used. It's like poszłem instead of poszedłem but poszłem is quite widely used
