What's up with the "Quote" feature?

nobody died, but its annoying that they've taken away something that was really handy, especially when you wanted to reply to specific parts of someones post or to multiple posters all at once

Quoting JustysiaS: ...to specific parts of some...

That was what I was going to quote last time but couldn't be bothered.
I've even edited a little box around it now and put some of it in bold.
I can't do that every time.

edit: The box didn't work - I did italics by mistake. Just one moment please...
edit: Oops! I seem to have deleted my entire post.
edit: I seem to have managed to put it back again.

This is something to do with what JustysiaS is about to type in her next post
It's beginning to look more like two thirds of my life already.

Aww you can't make pyramids on here, no quote-in-quote huh? probably for the best.

This is how things were done before these lazy buttons came along, and you dont see many forum sites that allow colour text anymore either:

*ironic-sadface*

Not even underlines?!?! just these \/

As for 'False' its '1337 Sp34k' for a negative reply, like 'Fail'
i.e.

"My car wont start, it is FAIL!!"
"He says he is a better WoW player than me, he is FALSE!!"

someone spat their dummy out.......
What the hell answer is " its false" to a reasonable question? ?? pah, pathetic.

The answer was correct and to the point. How many of your "non-pathetic" hours have you spent in last week answering to someone else's questions? How much free time did you devote to someone to make them have a place to spend their free time to have fun?

I'm just tired of answering "attacks" of someone posting in such threads who wanted to be a moderator but was refused; now all his post are supposed to "prove" how wrong it was not to accept him as a moderator.

It's a free world and free choice and if you hate something, just click away and move on with your life, you won't lose any of your money or anything else.

I've built and admin'd a few and i can tell you its mostly a thank-less task.
When things go wrong you get nothing but aggravation, when things go right you just get nothing, silence is a great reward though i swear!

Great job guys, at least some of us appreciate your work :-)

Missing quote button? Great! Look at the bright side.
At least there wont be pages... and half pages of quotes and - a single comment under them. LOL.
The colors are still frickin' me out, however.

Oh, look the quote came handy! Just in time.

I agree, some of the comments are really rude and not necessary. Everybody has the right to express their opinion whether they like the changes or not, but there is no need for silly attacks.

I think the error works like this.

Highlight the text: "hey, tell ADM - I quoted him;)" in Miranda's little text box.

Hit the Quote Function directly above Miranda's little text box (but below PGT's little text box).

Now it appears that PGT said what Miranda said.

Simple solution: put the quote link inside each poster's text box, and eliminate the confusion / likelyhood that the wrong person would be quoted...

Yes, worth noting, if you are quoting someone then you should use the word "quote" below their post and not above it or else it will look like a mis-quote.

I though I did that.

But never mind, it seems like ADM is a bit more nervous than any other day.

I doubt he is more nervous. You'll both note "moderator" added to Shawn H's post not "Admin".

listen, I really don't care what the 'division of power" amongst you guys is.
I am a user of PF and seeing that you actually make a differance between the mods and yourself makes me laugh, since I really don't know who I am speaking to.You know more about me than I know about you.

Long time ago I asked to let us know who the mods are on articular nights are (it is actually practices in other forums), but I never got an answer. So, to make the story short: not getting a straigh answer is a way to go on PF.
Sid it once, will never repea it again.

Moderators all have the same "powers" Admin has more "power" so really, you don't need to know which moderator is here as it could be everyone or just one or two. You'll know when it's Admin though as it will say "Admin" in edits.

so now I cannot edit my post. Have been blocked. Oh, my.

Blocked from editing your post, yes, that's what happens when a Moderator or Admin edits into your (or anyones) posts.

I wouldn't call it "error" - I'd call it human ********. It's like someone was constantly making a spelling mistake and claimed it was the keyboard's fault he/she wrote the word incorrectly. If you don't know whom you want to quote, it's better not to quote at all. Currently the Quote/Reply links are right after the post and are separated with a new line, which should not appear to be confusing.

So, what was the censored word?

There have been recent iterations of the layout where the Reply/Quote were closer to another posters box. I could see where in haste, it could get confusing.

I honestly believe that most posters get it wrong unintentionally.

If the Reply and Quote links were inside the post box, even the most simple minded poster could get it right.

How many syllables?

What about putting the Reply / Quote links inside the box?

It wouldn't look good and could be distracting (the message tables have slightly different background).

OK, leave a little more space between tables while keeping the Q/R links close to the bottom of the table?

doesn't seem so always. look at my first post. it was monkeyed with and there is no 'admin' edit on it.

hmmm. u sure about that?

nope, my and other's quotes morphed as the quoted words weren't even close to the poster's who got erroneous credit for the quote.
