Your young men are being sent to the slaughter, your economy is in rapid decline.

When are you going to say enough is enough?

Maybe stronger! And I certainly don't feel any safer than I did right after 9/11. Oh, boy, you know I love my country to death but sometimes...

If the terrorists had $505,000,000,000 to spend do you really think you'd still be winning?

Actually, since I first posted its gone up to $505, 410, 000, 000. How many schools and hospitals do you think 410,000,000 could have bought you?

Bush couldn't care less if it was 10,000. They are just figures to him. The important figures are the ones on his various balances on his accounts

The figure is over $600Billion. Thats just the headline direct costs there are other costs. Total figure is expected to be $3 Trillion over the next twenty years or so, a large part of which is the increase in the cost of oil and medical costs.

Al-Queda has done very well out of this war, they obviously have a new base in iraq that provides them with oil revenue, a training ground, plentiful supply of targets and financial support from the newly enriched oil states. Expect supportive (i.e. damaging) messages for the Democrats, in the hope that McCain will get elected and keep up the bonanza for al-Queda.

Honestly, ths US will have absolutely nothing to be proud, once they leave Iraq. 4000+ dead and no end in sight, an economy at the brink of collapse, rising oil prices, and the list just goes on and on. The thing that surprises me is the price of gas here. Sure its cheaper then Europe, but the US has taken over an oil producing nation, you would think that gas prices would be going down.

P.S. Eight years later, It still amazes me that this guy is President.

right but oil men are in charge so i don't know how anybody would expect the price to go down. that's not how you make a profit.

This is silly.
Of course oil is going up. Oil producing countries are nervous about a number of things, and speculators are driving the prices through the roof. Most likely threats from Russia and Venezuela etc. etc. to cut off the flow from their countries to control the fuel supply have people paying top dollar for the stuff.
And, FWIW unless things have changed very recently, the U.S. (at least) doesn't get ANY oil from Iraq. Just something to chew on.
I don't visit here often these days, so in parting, hi folks.

We have done this before - The US are importing half a million barrels a day from Iraq.

In that case, excellent news. I trust the Iraqis better than I do Hugo Chavez OR Vladimir Putin. If some sort of balance with Iran that doesn't involve any of Ahmadinejad's previous comments about destruction of infidel nations can be reached, things could look up in the long run.
BTW as wars go, 4,000 is a LOW low price. We lost more than that the first 20 minutes of D-Day. I'm going back there, and honestly I gather it is starting to get boring, to the point that people with nothing better to do are starting to administrate people to death. The Air Force has time to give speeding tickets over there for crying out loud.

Excellent news ? The same day the 4000th soldier is killed, Russia sign a massive Oil deal with Iraq. Result ? I dont think so.
Polish dying so that Russia benefits ?

Half a million civilians, 2mln refugees.
Depends how much you value innocent Iraqis lives I suppose.

Comparing Iraq to D-Day - what an insult.

Excellent news they are shipping oil here finally (if your source is credible, but I am assuming it is).

Sure. If you say so. You and I both know the numbers wrt civilians is completely made up. We may never know until everything is over and done with. I also wonder how many of those "civilians" were toting RPGs but because they weren't in "uniform" are being labeled as such...
szkotja2007 wrote:

Let's see....one is an invasion to depose a despot bent on destruction, who was slaughtering his own people to boot, and had become a threat to other countries around him....the other is an invasion to depose a desot bent on destruction who was slaughtering his own people and had become a threat to other countries around him. I see. Completely different.
You also totally missed the point. People are whining about 4,000 mostly Americans dying (btw that would be combat forces like myself), as if that were some grievous loss as wars go. It is not. What would have happened if people wanted to quit the first time things looked rough at D-Day? My grandfather and my great uncle were there, and my other great uncle was at Iwo Jima. Should they have quit when they saw that not only the enemy dies in combat? For the most part, the Iraqi soldiers engaged in the beginning of the war weren't the ones drilling peoples' kneecaps or hanging them from cranes, and nor was the average German faced by my forbears the one who set up the death camps in Poland, Germany, and elsewhere. We fight the battles of other citizens who will not or cannot go for themselves.
The "what an insult" comment from someone who doesn't serve nor even truly know what is or isn't happening is somewhat humorous. War sucks, it always has and always will. If it didn't it would be a team sport.
I think the point is valid.
John P.
edit: what an insult vice how dare you...don't want to put words into anyone's mouth...

This goes out to all Americans. Given that you voted Iraq as ur 4th most hated country, ahead of China at 10th, why do u invest so much money in the rebuilding of that country? I've got my take, what's urs?

Seanus, that's interesting, as I'm American and have never seen anything like that.
Who did they ask?
One wonders, also, because there are in every country people who watch what is really happening around them, then there are more who believe whatever they see on the local boob-tube, and then there are others who remain completely oblivious and are the ones who can't find their own country on a map, often shown for a laugh on late night television shows....
If it was a poll, I think it would be interesting to see who they asked.
