PolAms -- do you regard yourselves only as 'white Americans'?

If it hadn't been for the fear of France and GB for a strong Germany and hence pushing for a cut of german territory to keep it smaller and more "manageable" all your spirits would had still accounted for nothing.

Versailles was about revenge, nothing else. It'll probably go down as being one of the worst treaties ever - it satisfied hardly anyone, it caused possibly decades of war and did hardly anything to actually resolve the probles - and indeed, just caused German instability and resentment.

To be fair though, the uprising in Poznan was probably one of the most well executed uprisings ever - it was cold, calculating and devastatingly effective. Why the leaders of the Warsaw Uprising didn't copy them is entirely beyond me!

It was a fairly straightforward annexation as well. Look at the pictures of Poznan from those times - the city was undeniably German to all practical extents. Business owners were German, the streets had German names - the place was German.

Dumb polaks everywhere, I see.

There you go again Delphiandomine with your anti-Polish insults.

God forbid anyone makes similar negative comments about your Russia.

If you don't like Poles, Poland, Polish Americans, etc, why, pray tell, do you keep coming on the Polish forum? Or are you just kind of monitoring things said here?

I think it would be incredibly dumb. I consider myself a European mixture (immigrants from a number of different places in Europe) which includes polish. Lol what do you think they are going to do have a space for every European nationality? That would be absolutely obsurd.

There you go again Delphiandomine with your anti-Polish insults.

What's insulting about the fact that Posen was a German, not a Polish city? Documentary evidence, as well as pictures show us clearly that the city was, to all practical extents, a German one. You know, there's a rather large German castle here to remind us of that fact ;)

God forbid anyone makes similar negative comments about your Russia.

If there were dumb American Russkies, I'd be insulting them just as much.

(for your information, the dumb polaks remark was aimed at the American Polonia, not the ones who live here)

You would never insult anybody of Russian ancestry. Who are you kidding?

So its OK if you insult Polish Americans? On top of your insulting of Poles in Poland in the past, etc.

Also get off this "you are in Poland baloney". You're too prejudiced against all Poles to want to live in Poland. You don't even speak the language.

You do NOT live in Poland you Russian liar. So Get off it. Go live in Moscow (if you don't already live there now) you would be much more comfortable there.

So what about all the Russian Retards out there?

What's insulting is your Russian hypocricy and stupidity.

If you care so much about German cities why did you Russian thugs go crazy raping many innocent German women in German cities?

Also get off this "you are in Poland baloney". You're too prejudiced against all Poles to want to live in Poland. You don't even speak the language.

You do make a rather...large amount of assumptions, don't you?

You do NOT live in Poland you Russian liar.

I don't? Strange, I could have sworn that my driving licence says "PL" on it and has a Polish address. Must have got mixed up somewhere along the line, I guess.

So what about all the Russian Retards out there?

This isn't RussianForums.com, but PolishForums.com. If you want to discuss how retarded Russian expatriates are, go do it somewhere else.

If you care so much about German cities why did you Russian thugs go crazy raping many innocent German women in German cities?

That has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Posen was a very, very Germanic city.

You know, the funny thing is that no Polish person actually living in Poland (who are much more TRUE POLES in my eyes - at least they live in and contribute to the country!) has a bad word to say about my observations of the American Polonia. Could it be because - actually - most Poles think that Polish-Americans are retards, too?

The fact that North America was the only place where Jaroslaw Kaczynski won should tell you a thing or two ;)

(Actually, if we look at the election results, Jarek clearly won with the uneducated part of society, whereas Komorowski won with the educated side. What does that say about the American Polonia?)

this is a generalization. Not all PolAms are uneducated and not all Poles living in Poland are educated. Come on.

It's a very interesting statistic though - either the American Polonia are out of touch with what's happening in Poland (very likely) or they're uneducated. I suspect it's a lot to do with the fact that they read about Poland in the English language press - the English press in general being absolutely unable to describe Polish politics!
aphrodisiac 11 | 2,437

either the American Polonia are out of touch with what's happening in Poland

that is probably the case and there nothing one can do about it since there are many Poles living in Poland who can be described the same way, they are out of touch for different reasons: lack of interest, too busy working and caring for families, tired of the confusing and complicated Polish politics and bickering and so on.

I suspect it's a lot to do with the fact that they read about Poland in the English language press - the English press in general being absolutely unable to describe Polish politics!

It depends on the group, some read Polish papers and the one I know in Canada are right wings and don't provide an objective view on the Polish politics, some (who probably don't read Polish) would resort to English Polish news- I am not sure how many of those there are, but not to many.

I personally read Polish press from Poland and I believe that those don't provide an objective view of the Polish politics either.
You are assuming and speculating to much in my view while the answer is more complicated then that. Even my family in Poland is confused about the Polish politics ( I was there a couple of months ago), so what are you making your assumptions? On incomplete information? Just my two cents:)

At the moment Polish politics is a ZOO.

It does tell me thing or two but only about you:) Your criteria of evaluating people according to their political choices is "nice" but tricky - lack of objectivity.

That's the thing - people here are relatively ignorant about what's going on - what hope does someone in America, who doesn't speak Polish, have of understanding what's going on?

There are some sources - but the problem is that many of these English speakers base their opinion on Poland on what they read in the English press - which usually labels (completely wrongly) Kaczynski as a conservative and Komorowski as a liberal. Heck, some of them online seem to believe that Kaczynski stands up for Poland - forgetting that his own brother signed the Lisbon treaty!

It does tell me thing or two but only about you:) Your criteria of evaluating people according to their political choices is "nice" but tricky - lack of objectivity.

Well, it's only what was seen in Poland as a whole - PiS voters are older, less educated and rural while PO voters are younger, more educated and live in cities. Unless of course, the American Polonia are so far removed from Poland that they don't actually mirror what's going on here anymore.

To be fair, my problem with the American Polonia is simply that many of the 3rd generation go on about being Polish, yet none of them speak the language, nor do they know much/anything about Poland itself. Heck, this thread alone proves that many of them know little to nothing about the history of the country, as well as the way that it's virtually impossible to state with confidence that you are in fact 100% TRUE POLISH.

No it didn't.
If it hadn't been for the fear of France and GB for a strong Germany and hence pushing for a cut of german territory to keep it smaller and more "manageable" all your spirits would had still accounted for nothing.

I think it's called picking the right moment to act. War and politics is not a mano-a-mano thing. It's never fair, just like Germn invasion on Pl in 1939 was not fair.

Of course had it not been for a major conflct between Austria, Germany vs Russia, the chances of an independent Poland were slim, but WWI did happen and Poles did took advantage of it. They picked the right moment to act and done a great job. Basically all of Pl borders were settled through an armed conflict. This would not happen if the spirit wasn't there.

Poland was the one sole profiteur of WWI and the Treaty of Versailles (well, you and Czechoslovakia), for the rest of Europe it spelled doom!

You make it sound as if it was all our fault, but remember that it was not Poles who started this madness.

What's insulting about the fact that Posen was a German, not a Polish city? Documentary evidence, as well as pictures show us clearly that the city was, to all practical extents, a German one. You know, there's a rather large German castle here to remind us of that fact ;)

Interesting. According to poznan.pl poles costituted about 57% of all inhabitamts of Poznan in 1918. There was also this economical rivalry betwen Poles and Germans prior to WWI that we are being taught in school, that apparently Poles won... Could you expand more on this subject. All educational systems use propaganda and i want to know whether I am in a wrong or not.

I can only go on the evidence from historical pictures - there seems to be little to no trace of Polish businesses at that time. If there was an economical rivalry, why is the old town at the time of 1900-1910ish covered in "German" businesses? Although - I suppose it's possible that Poles adopted "Germanic" identities at the time.

I dont get why its such a big deal to you in the first place. And those of us who do
come to learn , same as you would if you had no experience speaking English and
went to a site where people discuss current issues.

one of my cousins ( not fluent in Polish) but very active in a exchange program where
American students go to poland and Polish come here. he has went to poland quite a few
times and has a very close friend who works with them in the program and is Polish and
Loves his family , has offered my cousin and his family to stay ( and they did) at his familys
home in poland, The Parish they work with also has honored him multiple times, they
support and pay for students and work tirelessly in this program and love what they do.

you act like no one cares, and frankly, your the idiot, someone who tries to make
people look bad just for arguments sake, not bothering to research further, seeing
that there are many groups ( American Polonia) and organizations still actively involved.

Those of us who didnt get to learn, IS that OUR fault??? so we make this effort and
we attempt to work on these things, and some dork brain comes along and tells those
of us who make efforts that we are oblivious to whats currently going on in poland and
that we cant claim heritage , even though we have cousins still currently living there, and
have been living our lives, working our asses off in a economy that sucks big camel
BLANK and we are supposed to track our family tree back to the piast dynasty says
delphi who isnt polish, maybe lives there, but is anyone telling him he cant be who he is
and he has no business claiming his ancestry?

dude you have major issues, maybe your just a big jerk for the sake of it, I cant
say anything nice about someone who plays with people.. you have no understanding
about American Polonia.

yes, there are many of us who didnt get the chance to learn, I am glad your not a teacher
because you would probably discourage every student into never attending school again
because the world issues are none of their business and they have no right to be who
they are, no right to learn about their history and they have no idea of whats going on
and cant claim to be anything of come from any country because they would have to track
to the piast dynasty or better yet, when people were living in caves and didnt own a pair
of bear claws.. yeah, go that far back ehh..

People need to start realizing they should be helping. if your knowledge can be put to
use then at least be helpful and not a jerk..

I am so sick of fighting, every time I come here and try to be nice, someone comes along
and ruins the whole thing, if it isnt perverts and ******** someone is making polish people
look bad, or Americans or calling someone from the UK ugly, FEKIN stop it and start
acting like civilized people!!!!!!

for god sake, its not like we provoked you, but apparently those of us who want to learn
are the idiots, right, its a site to learn with, a tool to become more aware of your family
and your being told by some scottish Biatch arse to not learn!!!!

go cliff diving with out a parachute will ya.. leave us COOL PEOPLE ALONE!!!

* admin, if I get in trouble oh well, it was time to voice my self I do genealogy and

Come to think of it I am going to copy/paste my most recent post from Polish Natianalty thread as this is where it should have been to begin with:

Oh boy, where do I start..? Well I'm going to continue from where we left off (sort of) in
PolAms -- do you regard yourselves only as 'white Americans'?,where your little crusade has started.
Once again I will attempt to explain the obvious, as you keep missing the point to the point that one points his pointy finger to his flat (opposite of pointy) temple in poignant suspicion that the point of your posts is to point out the pointlessness of pointing anything out to you. But heck, it's Sunday and I feel benevolent and pointy (no I don't have an erection, quite opposite I experience massive shrinkage reading your stuff). So to the point then, yup, the one you are missing:

United States of America (yep the very same one you have never been to yet oddly enough you have a lot to say about) is a country of emigrants...........................(artistic recess for me and a chance for you to mull over it for a bit).................................................................. .................................................................., where cherishing its emigrant roots is a national past time almost like baseball. Well some do it more, some less yet still you have your China, Korea, Thai towns, Little Italy's, St. Patrick parades, villages and towns named after the places of origin from the old country, you name it.( All that genealogy craze is an industry there)

In that respect U.S.A is almost unique and you could call this phenomena part of their culture. So get used to it, because no matter how blue in the face and sore in your finger tips you get, you will still have scores of people over there calling themselves Irish, Polish, Dutch, Jewish and mixes of this and that despite the fact they don't fulfill YOUR PERSONAL CRITERIA for what belonging to a particular nation means.

Personally I have no problem with that although it does crack me up a bit when I mention my mixed Polish-Danish background and a person goes "Oh my grandparents came from Denmark" and then says something about pastry or Na Zdrowie if referred to Polish background. I don't mind that at all, if anything it's just another good reason to connect to people and share something good apart from my pointy erection. So lighten up 'tovaristch', I understand that Zbigniew Brzezinski must have been a thorn in your side (how's that for pointy?) but c'mon, water under the bridge:)

There is such a thing you know. Russian Americans are obssesed with conspiracies that are never true and consume their whole life with them. I've met a couple and they all seem the same. They are truly idiots. They are all obssesed with collecting canned food and water in case of an emergency and when you ask them why they do it they tell some story about the soviet union. All I have to say to them is we are not the friggin soviet union! Anyone who defends their paranoia as smart is ignorant.

why is the old town at the time of 1900-1910ish covered in "German" businesses

The question whether Posen was primarily German or Polish is actually quite easy to answer. All you need to do is to download old address books or census records of Posen from before WW1 (they are available online in Polish archives) and take a closer look at them. The results speak for themselves.

Just getting even for what Germans did in WWII in Russia and not only there...

I said this on PF before: don't call someone an animal if you behave like one yourself.

What a bunch of baloney.

If my Polish family in Poland saw all the crap you write they would say you're nothing more then an anti-Polish Bigot troublemaker trying to divide Poles and Polish Americans. Not too mention just recently you were trying to divide Poles and Germans. You have virtually nothing good to say about anybody of Polish ancestry but you are VERY QUICK to find fault and criticize Poles which says a lot about you.

Any fair minded Pole that read ALL your rants about Polish Americans AND Poles would think you are the LAST person to past judgement on anything pertaining to Poland or Poles.

Just admit it. You are a Russian who is on this forum to "monitor" anything anybody says about your Russia.

Just admit your ancestry. At least half the people on this forum are not of Polish ancestry. We have other people on this forum who are honest about who they are and have no problem saying that they are Russian, Serbian, German, English, Scottish, etc, so why don't you just admit you're Russian. Aren't you proud of your Russian heritage?

What a bunch of baloney.

What do you know about Poland? That's right - nothing. You didn't even know about which candidate was better for business in Poland during the recent election!

If my Polish family in Poland saw all the crap you write they would say you're nothing more then an anti-Polish Bigot troublemaker trying to divide Poles and Polish Americans.

Polish-Americans did a pretty good job of that themselves during the recent election. It was actually quite widely mentioned here that the Polish-Americans had gone against the rest of the world (including Poland) when it came to the election.

Anyway, most Poles don't regard the Polonia as being Polish. Waving a kielbasa around, talking about Busha's pierogies (the fact that they use the word "pierogies" says it all!) and so on doesn't really endear them to most ordinary Poles.

You have virtually nothing good to say about anybody of Polish ancestry but you are VERY QUICK to find fault and criticize Poles which says a lot about you.

I have no time for those who go on about being Polish when they -

a) don't speak the language
b) visit for, at best, two weeks every few years
c) complain about the country without living in it

As for ordinary Poles living in Europe, Asia or elsewhere, they're mostly fine. The younger ones in Belarus/Ukraine are a bit strange and not really Polish at all, but the rest are fine. Then again, what would you know, yankee?

Any fair minded Pole that read ALL your rants about Polish Americans AND Poles would think you are the LAST person to past judgement on anything pertaining to Poland or Poles.

How many real Polish people do you know? You know, ones who actually live and work in Poland?

Just admit it. You are a Russian who is on this forum to "monitor" anything anybody says about your Russia.

So, what's it like sleeping under the stairs with your tinfoil hat on?

Just admit your ancestry. At least half the people on this forum are not of Polish ancestry. We have other people on this forum who are honest about who they are and have no problem saying that they are Russian, Serbian, German, English, Scottish, etc, so why don't you just admit you're Russian. I wish I had some Russian ancestry, it would be nice to be something other than a plain cabbage Scot :(
